HTC Desire 510 review: Inbetweener

We're not far from the time when the smart in phone will be implied. Prices are falling, market share is climbing - it's near impossible to keep track these days of all the new entries in the low end and the midrange. HTC's Desire lineup is no...

4.7" FWVGA capacitive touchscreen, 208ppi ; Android 4.4.2 KitKat with HTC Sense 6 ; 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU; 1GB of RAM; Adreno 306 GPU; Snapdragon 410 chipset ; LTE connectivity ; 5MP fixed-focus camera, HTC Zoe mode ; 1080p video capture,...

Low screen resolution with low ppi ratio ; Fixed-focus camera ; No LED flash ; MicroSD slot isn't hot-swappable ; Thick and heavy (1cm and 158g)

The HTC Desire 510 is the kind of phone that's likely to be in high demand for a good while. Perhaps not the device itself, which will soon start dealing with growing competition, but the very concept of an affordable phone with the fastest network...

HTC Desire 510 ( white)

The HTC Desire 510 is just such a phone. This 4.7-inch Android KitKat device doesn't have the most impressive specs around -- an 854x480-pixel display and 1.3GHz quad-core processor certainly won't spark much excitement among the tech elite -- but at...

The HTC Desire 510 has 4G LTE, simple to use Android KitKat software, a capable processor and battery. For all that, its price tag is extremely reasonable.

The camera isn't suitable for anything other than quick emergency snaps and its chunky design won't turn any heads.

The HTC Desire 510 doesn't have the specs to excite committed tech fans, but it handles the basics well, has 4G LTE for superfast data speeds, and it doesn't cost the earth.

HTC Desire 510 (Boost Mobile)

Don't let the 64-bit processor fool you—the Android-based HTC Desire 510 on Boost Mobile under-delivers on most other fronts.

Affordable. Runs Android 4.4.

Subpar display. Paltry built-in storage.

Conclusions Choices are far more limited on Boost Mobile than Sprint, but that doesn't do much to help the HTC Desire 510's cause. It's disappointing by nearly every measure, even if it only commands $100 off contract. Stepping down to $79 gets you a...

HTC Desire 510 (Sprint)

Don't let the 64-bit processor fool you—the Android-based HTC Desire 510 on Sprint under-delivers on most other fronts.

Affordable. Runs Android 4.4.

Subpar display. Paltry built-in storage.

Camera and Conclusions Like the lackluster display, the 5-megapixel rear-facing camera on the Desire 510 is a letdown. It harkens back to feature phone quality, with shots that verge on Impressionistic even in good outdoor light. Details are severely...

HTC Desire 510 Smartphone Review

Up to date, yet inexpensive. The 4.7-inch HTC Smartphone Desire 510 sells for only 200 Euros (~$250) but supports the faster LTE standard despite its low price. We've subjected the Android phone, which is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm quad-core SoC, to...

Inexpensive, 4.7-inch display, Very high build quality, Supports LTE, Battery is swappable, MicroSD cards up to 128 GB, Current Android OS, Starts up quickly, Good gaming performance, Low temperatures

Resolution of only 854 x 480 pixels, Viewing angle stability not that great, Camera modules, 3.8 GB of free space

The HTC Desire 510 is a good 4.7-inch smartphone which isn't really missing any features despite the low MSRP of 200 Euros (~$250). Equipped with a quad-core SoC and Android 4.4.3, the Desire 510 offers good overall performance and a decent gaming...

HTC Desire 510

HTC Desire 510 smartphone : Don't let its modest price fool you. Driven by a quad-core processor for the 4G network, the HTC Desire 510 displays rich graphics, juggles between multiple apps and provides the smooth gaming of a premium smartphone. The...

HTC Desire 510 Review

The HTC Desire 510 has the legitimate honor to be the first Android smartphone to ship with a 64-bit processor. Surprisingly, though, this isn't a hot-shot HTC flagship, but quite the opposite - a basic entry-level smartphone. It's the successor to...

Fast performance ; HTC Sense 6 is an excellent interface ; Solid build

Poor camera ; Dismal display ; No LED light

There are two things we outright don't like about the HTC Desire 510, and these happen to be its camera and display. The display is borderline unusable under direct sunlight, and the image looks washed out. A fixed-focus 5MP camera is very unimpressive...

HTC Desire 510 review

The HTC Desire 510 is a budget smartphone with a big screen and good looks. Positives include a responsive quad-core processor and good battery life, but beware of its bulky design, poor camera and low screen sharpness.

The HTC Desire 510 is a likeable smartphone. It's cheap, looks nice, and offers the benefits of a large screen, responsive performance and long battery life.

HTC Desire 510 review

HTC offers speedy 4G connectivity in a budget handset

Speedy operating system ; Low cost 4G ; Good battery life

Limited internal storage ; Screen is not amazing ; Poor camera

Fast 4G network speeds for a bargain price is pretty tempting, but the HTC Desire 510 isn't quite as desirable as its name suggests thanks to some budget compromises, especially in the screen and camera.
