HTC Evo Shift 4G (Sprint) review: HTC Evo Shift 4G (Sprint)

Debuting just before CES 2011, the HTC Evo Shift 4G is Sprint's third 4G smartphone and also the most affordable one in its lineup. At $149.99 with a two-year contract, it's $50 less than the Samsung Epic 4G and the HTC Evo 4G and sure, the cheaper...

The HTC Evo Shift 4G has a solid design with a comfortable physical keyboard. The Android 2.2 smartphone is 4G capable and can be used as a mobile hot spot.

Lacks a front-facing camera and HDMI port.

For those who crave a physical keyboard, the HTC Evo Shift 4G is a solid choice with a more wallet-friendly price than its 4G competitors, and it doesn't sacrifice too many features.

HTC Evo Shift 4G (Sprint) Review

For $149, the Shift 4G is a reasonably priced 4G smart phone that gives Sprint customers a physical keyboard option. Plus, it's more affordable than the Samsung Epic 4G and Evo 4G, both of which are $199. We prefer the keyboard and the brighter and...

Attractive blue design, Intuitive and useful HTC Sense software, Spacious backlit keyboard, Fast camera with 720p video recording, Fast 4G and 3G speeds

Power button difficult to access, A bit thick, No HDMI or front-facing camera

HTC EVO Shift 4G

The flood of 4G phones at CES 2011 started with the HTC EVO Shift 4G ($150 with a two-year contract from Sprint). Available starting on January 9, the Shift 4G is a follow-up to last year's popular HTC EVO 4G, the first 4G phone on Sprint's WiMax...

Solid performance ; Affordable 4G phone

4G coverage isn't consistent ; No front-facing camera

4G goes mainstream with the HTC EVO Shift, an inexpensive Android smartphone with a full-QWERTY keyboard.

Review: Sprint Sprint HTC EVO Shift

Anonymously texting your friends and colleagues with vulgar messages is quite amusing. Sprint Sprint HTC EVO Shift 5/10 Learn How We Rate Wired : Slide-out...

Slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a texter’s dream. Software is stable and fast. The sharp screen makes reading tiny text easy. Smaller form factor sits better in your jeans

Keyboard is tough to operate single-handed. One wimpy camera means no videoconferencing. Battery life is less than awesome. Puny 2-GB microSD card is an affront to all that’s decent and wholesome

HTC EVO Shift 4G (Sprint)

The HTC EVO Shift 4G may be down slightly on power and screen size compared to the EVO 4G and Epic 4G, but it's still an awesome Android device.

Responsive Android build. Attractive UI. Glass touch screen is sharp and bright. Excellent music and video playback. WiMAX 4G.

Memory card slot is buried underneath the battery. Slightly stiff keyboard. You have to pay extra for 4G even if you can't use it.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions HTC's upgraded music player works like a miniature jukebox for album art. The app was easy to use and responsive, and the standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack is a boon for music fans. Music tracks also sounded clear...

HTC EVO Shift 4G (Sprint)

The HTC EVO Shift 4G may not be the slimmest Android 2.2 cell phone available, but it has tons of features that make it a good choice for those in the market for a workhorse smartphone.

HTC EVO Shift 4G Review

After given the prestigious title of being the “first” of many things, the HTC EVO 4G has clearly raised the bar on Sprint's lineup with its vast arsenal of features and top notch performance. Attempting to discretely differentiate itself from that,...

HTC EVO Shift 4G Review: A Magnificant Mobile Messager

The EVO Shift is available now from Sprint for $150 with a two year voice and data plan. Without the contract it's price is $400

Good keyboard ; 4G wireless data ; Decent battery life

Weak Adobe Flash support

Just keep in mind though, turning on 4G WiMAX is a serious drain. And if you use the EVO Shift as a 4G hotspot so that WiMAX and Wi-Fi are on at the same time, you'd better have this smartphone plugged in

HTC EVO Shift 4G Review: A Magnificant Mobile Messager

Those who want to use their smartphone to do a lot of emailing or texting should check out the HTC EVO 4G, an Android smartphone from Sprint that offers WiMAX, a sliding keyboard, 3.6-inch display, and 5 megapixel camera.

The Evo Shift is a compact alternative to massive powerhouse smartphones

Part of Sprint's lineup of 4G capable phones, the HTC Evo Shift 4G may not pack quite the same punch as the Samsung Epic 4G (*Est. $150 with contract) or the HTC Evo 4G (*Est. $200 with contract), but it is a "powerful, less costly...

Spacious, well-lit keyboard, compact and sturdy build, less expensive than other 4G smartphones, speedy web browsing

Slow processor, no HDMI output, lacks front-facing camera
