UTStarcom XV6800 (Verizon Wireless)

We can't say for sure why Verizon Wireless chose to wait till the very last minute to release all its smartphones, but we know customers are excited to finally see the availability of the Verizon Wireless XV6800. As the successor to the aging UTStarcom...

The Verizon Wireless XV6800 smartphone brings upgrades such as Windows Mobile 6, a 2-megapixel camera, and a sleeker design than its predecessor. You also get Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and EV-DO.

The XV6800's speaker is on the softer side, and call quality could be better. The smartphone doesn't support Verizon's streaming media services, and there are some slight performance delays.

The Verizon Wireless XV6800 comes with most everything a power business user will need from a smartphone, but its less-than-stellar call quality gives the Samsung SCH-i760 the slight edge.

Verizon's Big XV6800 & Small SMT5800 Smartphones

Both sport a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, meaning you really can do just about everything on both of them. But the XV6800's larger display-2.8 inches versus 2.4 inches-does make document and picture viewing easier.

Its slide-out keyboard does enhance usefulness, though it is rather small. The keyboard features two menu buttons and just a few other keys beyond the alphabet (and corresponding numbers and symbols available using the Function key)

Verizon XV6800 Review

The XV6800 is basically a version of the device that's sold by Sprint as the HTC Mogul. The two variants share more or less the same internal hardware, and differ only in the physical casing and software. For that reason, I'm mostly going to highlight...

Ample memory ; Complete wireless options ; Possibility for internal GPS ; Full SDHC support

Marginal design ; Awkward one-handed dialing ; Combination USB/audio jack

Despite losing the design battle to the i760, the 6800 has superior specs

HTC Mogul / XV6800

The Mogul is a sizeable phone; at 4.3 x 2.3 x 0.7 inches and 5.8 ounces, it's a bit of a brick. However, this size has its advantages: it has a big, clear 3.5-inch screen and a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Despite its size, it is comfortable and sits well...

Review: HTC P4000 - A BlackBerry Replacement

Not only does the P4000's Windows Mobile operating system, like the BlackBerry, enable push e-mail, it also features a full QWERTY keyboard - which slides out from under the 2.8-inch touch-sensitive screen - and a scroll wheel that you push in,...

The P4000 also makes good use of the other surfaces. On the left edge, at the top, you'll find the jog wheel, nicely placed so right-handers can turn it with an index finger and southpaws with their thumb. It allows you to scroll vertically through...

Its physical interface is fairly well thought out. The front surface is mostly taken up with the screen, but at the top, there are dedicated buttons for launching the mail and browser applications. Below the screen, there's a circular four-way...

Review: HTC P4000 Pocket PC Phone from Telus Mobility

HTC has been making Pocket PC phones and Windows Mobile smartphones for a long time, but only recently have they started to market their products under their own banner. Earlier this month, we reported that the Taiwanese phonemaker was invading Canada...

The construction is super solid and I love the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Unlike many of its predecessors, the P4000 has a spring-assisted slider rather than a full manual one. Although the keyboard feels solid and there’s no wobble in the open...

Worst phone I ever owned.

stylus was a joke. when i got so fed up with it i Dumped it for a droid. I hated windows mobile too. the UI was just plain ugly. I had spent countless hours trying to find a better UI (user interface.) I would never ever recommend this Phone to anyone

I liked the spring activated keyboard and had decent call quality

It was fat and ugly. the camera just stunk. the focus was out of wack and the pics always turned out blown out. the phone always lagged and I had to reboot all the time
