S743

A chic alternative to the more mundane BlackBerry Curve, the HTC S740 ($550, unlocked, as of 4/9/2009) holds appeal for those who prefer a physical keyboard to a touchscreen. This slim, eye-catching smartphone has a clean interface and a spacious...

Excellent full QWERTY keyboard Slim design

Mediocre camera Unreliable call quality

The HTC S740 has everything you could want in a messaging and e-mail powerhouse: A fantastic keyboard, a slick operating system, and slim design. If you can tolerate mediocre call quality, the HTC S740 (or S743, when it debuts), is an excellent buy

HTC S743 Phone Review

Excellent full QWERTY keyboard ; Slim design

Mediocre camera ; Unreliable call quality

The HTC S740 has one of the best hardware keyboards we've seen, but is held back by uneven call quality.

HTC S743 (unlocked)

While everyone might be waiting for HTC to release its next Google Android phone, the smartphone manufacturer is plugging on with its commitment to Windows Mobile devices, and the latest model to come to market is the HTC S743. First announced at CES...

The HTC S743 packs in a full QWERTY keyboard while keeping a slim design. The Windows Mobile smartphone also offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and U.S. 3G support

The S743 is expensive. Call quality and GPS performance could be better. The microSD expansion slot is located in an inconvenient place

The HTC S743 packs a full-featured smartphone into a compact design, but the unlocked handset isn't cheap, which will make it a hard sell when compared with the competition.

I know a few people that have picked up the HTC S740 recently and they all rave about it, and let's face it, a lot of WinMo touch screen phone users lament those unprecedented calls, and data downloads mysteriously triggered whilst our devices are...

Clinton’s conclusion, well echoes the sentiments I've been encountering of this wonderful phone.

Review: Video review of the HTC S740/S743

Like its recently announced twin, the S743, HTC's S740 is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard edition smartphone with a regular alphanumeric keypad as well as a full QWERTY keyboard. Learn more about this solid smartphone in our video review.

But when you sum up all the hits and misses in the S740 (and S743), it seems clear that the phone is still a real winner.

HTC S743

Slick, functional and sexy, the HTC S743 appeals to both the business and multimedia sets.

It might not be the next Google Android device, but the HTC S743 smartphone still has plenty to get excited about -- all while staying true to the companies commitment and support for the Windows Mobile 6.1 platform. Announced back in January at the...

"Very stylish phone, beautiful form and great function."

I got so tired of touchscreens, and this is the perfect phone for a touchscreen hater. Has every functions you could need in a small stylish design, excellent battery life (three to four days of heavy use). It is a little expensive but the upside to...

Has BUTTONS!! No more pressing a touchscreen hoping to get a 3 and ending up with a 7. No more unlocking the screen every time you need to input something. The keyboard has slightly raised buttons, works well.

@ symbol is hard to get to. You have to search through a menu of symbols for it.

Where to start ; This phone is for those who don't quite get the touch screen craze or just have bad luck with them or those who like more ergonomically made phones ; This cell gives you everything you need plus things you don't with a construction...

Only a few cons which to me are not that big of a deal but might be to others ; SD card is behind the sims card but if you get a big enough SD and don't always have to plug it into your comp for what ever is no big deal ; GPS is off some. On mine,...
