HTC Surround (for AT&T)

The Surround is another solid smartphone offering from HTC. If you like the Windows Phone 7 experience (what's not to like?), this handset will not impede that experience in any way.

Touchscreen looks good and responds well ; Dedicated button for camera functions

Pull-out speaker system sounds tinny ; Maximum upload speed on AT&T is too slow

The Surround is a solid Windows Phone 7 phone with a regrettable "boom box" gimmick.

HTC Surround (AT&T) review

Editors' note: In our review of the HTC Surround and Samsung Focus, we point out some of the more major features of Windows Phone 7, but for a more detailed look at the full operating system, please check out our in-depth review of Windows Phone 7 .

The HTC Surround features surround-sound speakers and a kickstand. The smartphone has a 1GHz processor, full wireless options, and a 5-megapixel camera. Windows Phone 7 brings a fresh and friendly user interface, great multimedia capabilities, and an...

Speakerphone volume is low. Phone is hefty and lacks expandable memory. No copy and paste yet. Limited support for landscape mode. Xbox Live games slow to load. No direct syncing for non-Exchange Outlook accounts; must go through the cloud.

The HTC Surround features the high-quality design that we've come to expect from HTC, but the only thing its built-in speakers really add to the phone is weight. Unless you're set on the speakers, the Samsung Focus is a sleeker Windows Phone 7 device...

HTC Surround (AT&T)

The HTC Surround promises a big entertainment experience with its kickstand and huge slide-out speaker, but Windows Phone 7 just isn't up to the task.

Huge slide-out speaker. Kickstand for watching videos. Windows Phone 7 looks great.

OS doesn't really work in landscape mode. Big speaker can't be used as speakerphone. Short battery life.

HTC Surround Review

Looking back at it now, it's clear that HTC was one of the prominent mobile handset manufacturers that somehow defied the odds by providing some attention to Microsoft's Windows Mobile. Even though they didn't have the notoriety back then versus how...

HTC Surround Cell Phone Review

The HTC surround is a unique smart phone with a slide-out surround speaker system. The speaker system makes the phone a little heavy, but to some, that extra weight adds to the sturdiness of an already solidly built phone. For music lovers, the sound...

HTC Surround

Getting a hint from its name, the HTC Surround carries a mini-Dolby Surround powered speaker bar. The speaker bar can be slid open from what you would suspect to be QWERTY keyboard underneath its screen. It has a kickstand to rest the phone in...

HTC Surround Review by Taylor

The HTC Surround is Microsoft's latest mobile software, and I can honestly say that as soon as I turned on the Surround for my review, I was sold. Windows Phone 7 made its debut on AT&T here in the US on November 8

Build quality is top notch; loud, high quality speaker; beautiful display; slick user interface; kickstand for watching videos and projection when listening to music through the Dolby speaker; one of the best mobile web browsing experiences to date

No microSD card slot or room for expandable memory; bloated with animations; apps can take up to ten seconds to launch, sometimes more, then you have to wait on the information to load; hard to locate settings for apps sometimes; poor battery life;...

Being part of the first-generation of Windows Phone 7 devices, the HTC Surround sets some pretty high standards for generations to come. Unfortunately, between the very long load times and headache of getting everything setup the first time, I'm not...

HTC Surround

One unique feature with the Surround is the slide-out speaker and kickstand, turning this into a useful standalone music player. Other than that, the Surround is a fairly standard Windows Phone 7 device.. and when you understand that all Windows Phone...
