If you want a decent phone for phone functions, steer well clear. Takes ages to boot up, other person often can't hear you, no way to send contacts via sms or delete your SMS inbox, no truly 'silent' profile as media still makes noise at ful volume... ...

Free on contract... makes a very swanky paperweight

Can Orange's smartphone and winner of Girl's Best Friend wireless category award at CES 2005 take on the more established models from Palm and HP and more to the point will the small form factored device be able to replace both your phone and your PDA?...

Handset design, battery life

Depends upon the right servers for email and corporate back up for PIM software to perform all its extra functions

The SPV C500 is a serious phone and a decent PDA. If you have the time to set the handset up, you will be married to it for much longer than your last, fashion victim phone.

The C500 runs Windows Mobile 2003 SE, is Java-enabled and comes with a portrait screen

Not ideal for gaming duties but Java games have come on in leaps and bounds and there’s a flotilla of top titles ready to grace your mobile's skimpy screen

HTC Typhoon by the example of GSM-smartphone I-mate SP3 (Qtek 8010, Orange SPV C500/C500S, Audiovox SMT 5600, Dopod 565)

 

As we've already said, the new smartphone is available under different trademarks. For the first time we see so many variations in design and control elements in a single platform.

The network reception quality of the SP3 is good. The volume of the loudspeaker is high enough, it's heard in a noisy street, the vibro alert is average.
