Cingular 8125 Smart Phone

Cingular's 8125 has the right idea when it comes to hardware and software specs. But this hybrid PDA/cell phone's design and usability disappoint.

Built-in Wi-Fi for fast Web access Excellent battery life

Bulky device is awkward to hold Launching apps can be slow

Still, $349 (as of April 7, 2006, with a two-year contract) is a high price to pay for an e-mail device that suffers from usability flaws and delivers mixed call quality

AT&T 8125

Sitting front and center is the Cingular 8125's 2.8-inch-diagonal TFT screen with a 64,000-color output and a 320x240-pixel resolution. Overall, text and images were clear and defined, and the colors were bright and vibrant. We did notice, however,...

The Cingular 8100 series features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Windows Mobile 5, and four forms of wireless (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, EDGE, and infrared). The quad-band world phone also offers a speakerphone and extralong talk-time battery life.

Unfortunately, the Cingular 8100 series is clunky and heavy, and it suffers from subpar call quality.

Although we weren't terribly impressed by the call quality or the form factor, the Cingular 8100 series provides powerful tools to the mobile professional for getting work done on the go.

Qtek 9100 review: Cheaper than expected

We have tested the Qtek 9100 communicator which comes from the HTC Wizard platform. O2 XDA mini S, T-Mobile MDA Vario and i-mate K-JAM are devices from the same platform, this is why this review applies to them too. The Qtek 9100 offers a comfortable...

Not to whet your appetite too much for a device that apparently won't be out here until early next year (sigh), but the peeps at got their hands on a pre-production QTEK 9100 and production I-mate K-JAM (aka, the HTC Wizard-not to be confused...

Cingular 8125

Like the MDA, the 8125 is a quad-band world phone with EDGE for cellular data transfer and Wi-Fi for faster connections in hot spots. It packs a 195-MHz TI processor that's fast enough for most applications, though not for Skype or for full-screen...

Wi-Fi. Professional appearance

Poor phone reception

A solidly built phone that works well for Web browsing and e-mail, but we wish it was better at capturing weak cellular signals.

Product Specifications

Introducing the latest business tool to be released in the Qtek line-up, the Qtek 9100. The new 9100 builds on the success of the earlier S100 model with the addition of a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It comes fully loaded with all the functionality you would expect from a business device: 64K color touch screen display, 1.3 MP camera, quad-band, mini SD slot, Bluetooth and a Microsoft operating system. However, the 9100 has taken it a step further with the inclusion of EDGE, WiFi, and a full keyboard. In addition, the 9100 is running the latest Microsoft operating system for mobiles, Windows Mobile 5.0. Window Mobile 5.0 provided the device with improved performance, more customization and better security than previous versions. Once again, Qtek is setting the benchmark for mobile business tools with the all new 9100. The Qtek 9100, for serious business!
