Review Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL Smartphone

Half a tablet? When it comes to the selection of hardware Huawei

Bright display; High performance SoC; MicroSD slot; Good manufacturing quality; Low heat dissipation

Short battery life; Permanently integrated battery; Only one model (low memory capacity); Meager front camera

The increased clock speed (+200 MHz) improves the whole system, and delivers an ample amount of performance in all areas compared to the tablet version, the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD.

Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL (unlocked)

Back in February, when Huawei announced at Mobile World Congress that it would release the world's fastest phone in the form of the Ascend D1 Quad (and its bigger-batteried counterpart, the XL), our interest was piqued. At that time, a quad-core phone...

The Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL 's camera is packed with editing features, and its user interface has several customization options.

The Ascend D1 Quad XL's screen is dim, its photo quality is poor, and it has a hefty build.

While its processor may sound impressive, the Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL is a mediocre phone in a sea of excellent quad-core alternatives.

More Info Huawei Ascend D Quad XL announced at MWC Huawei Ascend D Quad hands-on Huawei Ascend D Quad gets FCC approval In February of this year, Huawei took to the stage at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to highlight its most ambitious smartphone...

Solid performance ; (Mostly) vanilla Android UI ; High-definition IPS display

Video capture is choppy ; Limited onboard storage ; Thick for its form factor

Huawei's first quad-core device is sufficiently fast and powerful, but will likely be quickly forgotten amidst a sea of strong competition.

Huawei Ascend D1 XL Review

Big on specs, small on price.

Good specs, nice screen and amazing battery life

Old version of Android, strictly ok camera and build quality

The Ascend D1 does quite a few things right but at the same time falters in areas it shouldn’t have. For example, not providing Jelly Bean 4.1 out of the box at the end of 2012 is not really excusable. On the other hand the screen and one-handed usage...

"I bet I'm the only one who has this phone"

Good phone. I bought it for a relatively low price here in the Philippines (7990 PHP - roughly 200 USD - HUGE price drop for Huawei devices here! Maybe they're not selling well?) and I gotta say, it's one of THE best phones I could get in that price...

- Great display.

- Huawei's native apps suck.

Huawei Ascend D1 Android phone (preview)

The crowning feature of the Huawei Ascend D1 is large 4.5in screen with a resolution of 1280x720.

4.5in display ; Only 8.9mm thick ; Likely to be competitively priced

No word on Jelly Bean update ; No info on AU release

The Huawei Ascend D1 may not be a flagship model smartphone, but it has very impressive specifications. The crowning feature is a large 4.5in screen with a resolution of 1280x720. There's no word on an Australian release just yet.

Huawei Ascend D1 Quad XL hands-on

The Huawei D1 Quad XL makes some very ambitious claims for its battery, as well as sporting a crystal-clear screen.

Impressive battery life ; Crisp screen

Battery claims bear closer scrutiny

Huawei Ascend D1 hands-on

The Huawei Ascend D1 is a dual-core version of the Ascend D Quad, running Ice Cream Sandwich with an extra helping of sauce on top.

Dual-core power ; Ice Cream Sandwich ; Glitzy extras on top of basic Android

Some animations are distracting ; Identikit styling
