Review Huawei Ascend G510 Smartphone

High performance for little money? Affordable yet powerful - this

Bright LC display; NFC module; GSM quad-band; 5 megapixel camera; Removable battery; Max. 32 GB memory expansion via micro SD card; Good performance; Low temperature; Decent battery runtime; Very low-priced

Low resolution; Glare-type screen; Slippery hold despite the ribbed back; Only 1 GB memory available; Occasional, minor stutters when navigating and in games

Huawei's Ascend G510 is a full-fledged smartphone despite its low price and does not show shortcomings in significant areas in terms of soft- and hardware equipment.

Huawei Ascend G510 review

Can the G510 become an affordable mid-range miracle?

MicroSD support ; Sturdy build ; DLNA streaming and NFC

Poor Emotion UI ; Small internal storage ; Screen terrible in direct sunlight

Is an affordable price tag enough to overlook performance issues?

Affordable £130 price tag ; Relatively good camera ; Good call quality

Terrible screen quality ; Buggy Emotion UI ; Poor battery

What’s more, the checkerboard imprint of the display’s touch panel is visible in all manner of lighting conditions – an annoying distraction.

It's not the most exciting phone, but you get an awful lot for your money with the G510

Huawei Ascend G510 review

The Huawei Ascend G510 has one of the biggest screens you'll find in a phone under £150, but it's really let down by Huawei's awkward software, which seriously saps the dual-core processor's power. Its outward design isn't going to win you any style...

Large, bright screen ; Affordable price ; Decent camera ; Expandable storage

Unpleasant, bloated Huawei software ; Miserably dull design ; Underpowered processor ; Only 4GB of internal storage

With its plain, chunky design, the Huawei Ascend G510 is evidently going for the gold medal in Ugliest Phone of the Year. The sluggish, awkward interface Huawei has slapped on it doesn't do it any favours either. It's only saved from complete damnation...

Huawei Ascend G510 Review: In Depth

At just £130, the Huawei Ascend G510 crams in a 4.5-inch screen, dual-cores and a 5-megapixel camera.

Large IPS display ; Good camera performance ; Front facing camera on board

User Interface is heavy ; Occasionally buggy performance ; Stutter present when multi-tasking

If you want the Android apps, want the size and want it all for £130 though, you won’t find it anywhere else, so you can confidently pick up a Huawei Ascend G510 from a Vodafone shop or Vodafone online today.

Our very own Jon Bentley put some of the best budget smartphones to the test in his latest round-up, including the Huawei Ascend G510. With a £117.99 price-tag, five-megapixel camera, FM radio and face detection software, can it make it to the top of...

Expectations have been raised

From a gaming perspective, the G510 doesn't offer a consistent enough experience to be a serious consideration

Huawei Ascend G510

The Huawei Ascend G510 has arrived: it's the first of the ultra-cheap smartphones to arrive running Android 4.1 “Jelly Bean”, rather than older, creaker 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”. For just £130 upfront, or £13 per month on contract, you get a massive...

On paper, the Huawei Ascend G510 sounds like a bargain. In practice, it’s not quite as powerful as it really should be. Something is holding it back, and ultimately, it makes the even cheaper ZTE Blade 3 the better budget option of the two. But hey, if...
