Review Huawei Ascend W1 Smartphone

Huawei Gets things done. Huawei now releases a Windows 8 smartpho

Bright, high-contrast IPS screen; Decent application performance; Great build; Storage expandable via micro SD

Low-capacity internal storage; Tight working memory

In the same price range, particularly Nokia's Lumia 520 and Nokia's Lumia 620 as well as HTC's Windows Phone 8S. Generally, all competitors based on Windows Phone 8, like Nokia's Lumia 820 and Lumia 920, HTC's Windows Phone 8X and Samsung's ATIV S.

Huawei Ascend W1 review: the company's first WP8 device is promising, yet flawed

More InfoHuawei's Windows Phone handset outed as Ascend W1Huawei Ascend W1, the company's first Windows Phone 8 device, comes to the US in prepaid

Cheap ; Attractive, well-built hardware ; Excellent performance ; Big battery

1.88GB of usable storage ; Inconsistent camera

This very good Windows Phone 8 device is hampered by a lack of storage and a lackluster camera, but good performance may tempt speed freaks.

Huawei Ascend W1

If you're in the market for a pre-paid, current Windows phone, this is the only one Windows currently produces. It boasts strong battery life, although you will get a slightly subpar camera, display and hardware. If you can live with these drawbacks,...

The Huawei Ascend W1 has a strong battery and expandable memory

It has a slow processor, only 512 MG of RAM and a weak camera

The Huawei Ascend W1 is a modest phone with a strong battery, but it is easily bested by other Windows devices.

Who's ready for a cheap Windows Phone 8 thrill?

Cheap ; Great battery life ; MicroSD slot

Average camera ; Slow web browsing ; No sat nav out of box

When you consider the Huawei Ascend W1 will set you back just £120 it's difficult to fault, as you're getting a pretty good deal.

Huawei Ascend W1

Is the Huawei Ascend W1 the new king of budget smartphones?

Good looking ; Colourful design ; High quality screen ; Very affordable ; Long battery life ; Good call quality

The screen is a bit reflective, but not any more so than most of today's smartphones, and it has enough brightness on tap for it to still be very usable outdoors in direct sunlight.

Huawei Ascend W1 hands-on review

At CES 2013 Huawei announced its Full HD Ascend D2 but it also unveiled the Ascend W1. We were there to take a look at Huawei's first Windows Phone 8 smartphone so here's our Ascend W1 hands-on review.

The Huawei Ascend W1 might not be the most exciting and innovative smartphone around but it could well be the best budget Windows Phone option.

Huawei Ascend W1 Review: First Look

Huawei's first foray into Windows Phone is an attractive, lightweight phone, we've expecting to be very competitively priced.

Set to launch in the UK in Q1, the Huawei Ascend will be available exclusively on O2. There’s no news on pricing yet, but O2 and Huawei claim it will be very competitive, so it will be interesting to see if it entices new users to Windows Phone and if...

Good build quality, quite fast

Screen could be better, so could the camera, struggles todistinguish itself from rivals

As a mid-price gateway to the world of Windows Phone the HuaweiAscend W1 is an efficient, fast and capable way in. But the cameraisn't quite up to scratch, the screen could be a bit sharper, andit has its work cut out to distinguish itself from the...
