Review Huawei Ascend Y530 Smartphone

Gigantic little Y. Huawei's Y product line is aimed at price-conscious smartphone newbies. The Ascend Y530 is no exception. The Chinese manufacturer bundles a rounded package for 149 Euros (~$206) and keeps a simplified usage in mind - and the 4.5-inch...

Good build, Slim silhouette, Feasible performance, Viewing angle stable screen, Decent speaker, Low price, Huawei has bundled a rounded overall package for a very affordable price. This even makes a low-budget smartphone fun

Abysmal front-facing camera, Small working memory, Low and slow internal storage, Occasional stutters in use, The front-facing camera could be a bit higher quality. More working memory would also be nice, but likely too much of a good thing for this...

Huawei Ascend Y530, First Take: Entry-level smartphone with 'simple' Android UI option

This affordable smartphone includes a Simple Android Interface, but it's only skin-deep, and to access it you need to be able to navigate the standard UI.

Three-pane view shows detail at a glance ; Display is configurable on the fly ; Advanced notifications

Somewhat expensive for an iPad app

Huawei Ascend Y530 review

Is simplicity the key to winning the budget market?

Simple UI mode ; Solid design ; Respectable battery life

Emotion UI is poor ; Small internal storage ; No 4G or NFC

In all the Huawei Ascend Y530 is a solid budget smartphone which is capable of performing all the basics you'd expect without providing any thrills along the way.

Huawei Ascend Y530 review

The Huawei Y530 is the latest handset from the company that's looking to deliver that smartphone experience without breaking the bank.

Design is reasonable, IPS display, has microSD storage expansion, simple user interface option is good for newcomers

Slow performance, seems overpriced, cameras are average, software tweaks don't add much, battery performance not good

A decent Android handset for £120, but its poor battery life and sub-par camera hold it back

Huawei Ascend Y530 review

Chinese manufacturer Huawei's been on a bit of a roll recently.Hot on the heels of the high-end (but mid-priced) Ascend P7 and themid-range Ascend G6 comes the budget Y530, which doesn't stretch to4G or offer any standout specifications, but does at...

Neat and sturdy design, good-sized screen

Sub-HD display, processor not as powerful as it could be,doesn't do enough to distinguish itself from rivals

The Huawei Y530 is a solid budget performer that has at leastgained a few style points on its low-end predecessors and offersreasonable value for money within its limited specifications. However, it doesn't cost much more for increased power...

Huawei Ascend Y530 review

It has been a while since I've reviewed a handset from Huawei. Back last summer the Ascend P6 and Ascend P2 both impressed – the latter just a bit more than the former. The new Huawei Ascend Y530 isn't in their league, though; it's a budget handset,...

Good "lite" user interface option Solid build quality Memory expansion

Average processor Short on internal storage Poor battery life

There are some plus points here. I am coming round to liking Huawei's idea of putting apps on a home screen and not bothering with the app drawer. The general user interface is appealing and I can see how the "lite" version will have appeal, too. Build...
