Honor 5X Smartphone Review

Direct metal. Huawei's direct marketing brand Honor is always good for a bargain. We have the Honor 5X with a metal body and high-quality cameras in our lab this time. Let us see whether the smartphone's details are also convincing.

high-quality metal casing, good price-performance ratio, compelling battery life in WiFi test, moderate temperature development, bright screen, good and stylish software, decent camera configuration, dual-SIM, fingerprint scanner with additional features

middling GPS reception, poor call quality, speaker's low quality, high load consumption, short battery life under load

Huawei has in fact compiled a decent package. A high-performance device wrapped up in a classy casing, and all that at a great price. The software is stylish and practical, the cameras shoot decent pictures and a full-sized 24-month warranty is also...

Huawei Honor 5X (gold)

One of the Honor 5X's best assets is the fingerprint reader on its back, which is accurate and easy to use. The phone is also more attractive than you'd expect for its $200 price tag, which converts to about £135 and AU$275. Handling its formidable...

The Honor 5X has a nice metal build, accurate fingerprint reader and lots of expandable storage. It's much cheaper than almost-identical Huawei GX8.

There's minimal internal storage space, and some minor camera flaws with color and focus.

Huawei's Honor 5X is a great deal for budget-phone seekers.

Huawei Honor 5X (Unlocked)

The Huawei Honor 5X is the best looking affordable unlocked phone you can buy, but it's held back by an obtrusive UI and some performance issues.

Affordable. Attractive metal design. Good camera. Expandable memory and dual SIM slots.

Performance issues in testing. Heavy, buggy UI layer.

Software, Pricing, and Conclusions The 5X is running Android 5.0 Lollipop, but Huawei's EMUI 3.1 software layer is designed to make it look more like iOS. There's no app drawer, so all of your apps are arranged on the home screen, like iOS. And most of...

Huawei Honor 5X review: A decent performing, premium looking budget smartphone

A couple months ago we reviewed the Huawei GX8, and now it's time for a look at its sibling. Our Huawei Honor 5X review takes a look at another budget smartphone from the Chinese device maker. To be honest, the Honor 5X is very similar to the GX8 so...

Nice premium look, great battery life, decent performance and camera

Could use better speakers

The Honor 5X is a decent budget Android smartphone with a premium feel.

Huawei Honor 5X: Hitting the Mid Range Sweet Spot for $199 [Review]

Over the past couple of years the mid-range market has been heating up. Particularly with international companies getting their fix in the United States. Some have taken the usual approach of releasing a mid ranger while others have gone through code...

Even with the absent of 5GHZ WiFi, painful battery charging and iPhone familiar software, the Honor 5X by Huawei is a well-built piece of machinery at $199.99. It has a nice metallic feel to it, and holds decent specs with nice processing power to...

Honor 5X Review: Huawei's attempt to elevate average

Huawei's Honor 5X is a middle of the road handset that offers the luxury of a metal frame and other high-end amenities. But can it succeed in offering a premium experience for $200?

Honor 5X review

If your budget is mid-range but your aspirations are premium, then the Honor 5X from Huawei could be a good choice. Avoid the frustrations and compromises normally involved in selecting a mid-range smartphone, with this premium-designed handset. Packed...

This is the second Honor phone for us to review, and we've been impressed once again. Huawei really does seem to deliver on its promise of a premium product on a budget. Asked by brent from uk on 11th Aug 2016 Honor 5x v 5c Apart from the size, what...

Huawei Honor 5X review: affordable and fashionable

Can Huawei bring some style to a budget friendly mid range phone? Here's our full Honor 5X review.

Attractive build quality ; Fantastic fingerprint scanner ; Wallet friendly ; Respectable battery life

Unappealing UI ; Weak audio playback from speakers ; Weak camera performance when shooting video

The competition at this price point is heating up. We’ve compared the Honor 5X to the Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 , we recently we reviewed the Oppo F1 , and a Moto G is always a safe bet at this tier. Still there’s a charm here. To answer the question...

Honor 5X review: Great specs, Even better price

The Honor series of phones need no introduction. Huawei's online only sub brand, the company as long been known for introducing solid hardware that occupy a position just below the parent company's premium devices. With China and India as prime target...

Once again, Honor has delivered a handset that lives up to its reputation. It ticks the right boxes with great build quality, a metal shell, above average performance and battery life too. The camera too proved to be satisfactory. What we really liked...

Honor 5X Review: Huawei's House Brand Delivers

What does $200 get you in a smartphone? Quite a bit, including a large display, all-metal body, and excellent fingerprint sensor, but only if you go with the Honor 5X.

Slick exterior design ; Decent display ; Unique and useful dual SIM design ; Multi-functional fingerprint ID sensor ; Great photo quality

EMUI skin over Android 5.1.1 needs some work ; U.S. carrier support too limited ; No Android Marshmallow (6.0) ; Slow battery recharging ; Lacks NFC and dual-band Wi-Fi

Considering that Huawei is the third largest smartphone manufacturer behind Apple and Samsung, it’s no surprise it has delivered an economy smartphone that budget-conscious buyers would be wise to consider. It isn’t an iPhone or Galaxy as its...
