T-Mobile Sonic 2.0 Mobile Hotspot LTE

T-Mobile's first LTE hotspot can go all day, but it needs a firmware update to reach its true potential.

T-Mobile's only LTE hotspot. Good battery life. Solid speeds and range.

Unstable firmware drops connections. Data monitor is inaccurate. Doesn't work abroad.

Conclusions T-Mobile has growing national LTE coverage. That might make it a good carrier to check out for your hotspot needs, except that I'm concerned over the stability of this hotspot's software. Since hotspot users are typically data hogs, an...

T-Mobile Sonic 4G Mobile Hotspot

The T-Mobile Sonic 4G Mobile Hotspot is feature packed and the only one offered by the carrier with HSPA+ 42, making it the fastest yet.

Fast HSPA+ 42 speeds. Shares microSD storage over Wi-Fi. Easy to read, useful OLED screen.

Signal degrades after short distance. Mediocre battery life.

Service Plans, Performance, and Conclusions T-Mobile offers both contract-based and pre-paid data plans for the Sonic. Contract plans start at $39.99 per month for 2GB, and go up to $79.99 for 10GB a month. There are no overage charges, but data is...

Huawei Sonic Android phone

How much smartphone can $188 buy you? That's what supermarket chain Woolworths is selling Huawei's latest Sonic Android phone for in Australia.

Very low price ; Android features and flexibility ; Responsive 3.5in display

No flash ; Menu icons look ugly ; Poor quality camera

The Huawei Sonic provides a reasonable features list for quite a low price. As long as you can live with its limitations, such as the lack of Flash and a poor camera, it's very hard to beat for value.

Huawei Sonic

Huawei's X1 took the budget Android to new levels by sealing a beautifully simple package into a sub-$100 price. The Huawei Sonic works on that legacy but this time for the mid-range phone market without compromising on price value.

Budget price for mid-range Android phone; simple but slightly adapted user interface

Poor screen resolution; Average camera quality for colour saturation

Good phone for the price

Ive had mine for 1 year and have had no problems to date with it. This phone is easy to use. The battery life is reasonable. It delivers well for the cheap price. The camera is really no good, but if you use a digital camera, there is not much of a loss.

Easy to use, reliable, very good value

Camera is not worth using
