Is this more than just a budget phone at a budget price?

Stylish design ; Sturdy build ; Flash support ; Decent battery ; Bright screen

Fiddly keyboard ; Occasional lag ; Stuttery web performance ; Few camera options ; Low-res video capture

The Huawei Ascend G300 is an ultra-affordable Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone with a 4-inch screen, available for as little as £100 on PAYG

The Huawei Ascend G300 might on paper look like another cheap and less-than-cheerful Android phone, but it’s a solid buy considering its price. The screen is top drawer, the battery life is epic and there’s enough power on board to perform most tasks...

If you're a mobile operator that doesn't have a £100 Android handset for your pay-as-you-go customers, then you're very silly indeed. The leaders in this area are T-Mobile and Orange, who have very capable phones in this price range. Orange has the San...

Cheap, nicely designed, lovely to use, feels premium, great call quality

Screen isn't sensitive enough, processing power could be better, Vodafone junk

For £100, this is a great handset, but it would be a great handset if it cost more too. The screen could be a little more sensitive though, but aside from that the phone is almost indistinguishable from some more expensive models.

You no longer need to spend a big wad of cash to get a good smartphone...

Solid and stylish design ; Low price tag ; Good screen ; Impressive battery life

Can be a little bit laggy at times ; Camera could be better

However as light decreases so does its performance, with a lot of noise creeping into shots. It also doesn't handle shadow detail very well. You can call the LED flash in to play to help it out when you're shooting in low light, to help improve things.
