Although Gigabyte is a name normally associated with motherboards, graphics cards and cases, the Taiwanese firm also produces a range of handheld communication devices; the GSmart i350 being one of the firm's very
Brilliant LCD screen, decent digital camera, broad connectivity options, GPS support, easy memory upgrades.
Doesnt look stunning, body retains fingerprints.
If looks arent a huge concern then the i350 is a very good buy, packing in good performance and useful features for a good price.

Don't be confused by Motorola's launch of two identical phones with pretty much identical sounding names, as the Q9h (not the Q 8) is clearly the one to get if you're in the market for a smart-looking and pocketable Windows Mobile messaging phone.
Mobile 6, clear calls, user-friendly keyboard.
No Wi-fi, or GPS quirky interface, small space bar, awkward card slot, inaccurate voice recognition.
Offers a great messaging experience and solid construction in a pocket friendly package., but high-end users will demand Wi-Fi convenience.

Available in the UAE from Etisalat (and different suppliers in other Gulf territories), the new BlackBerry 8800 closely resembles the 8100 'Pearl' we reviewed earlier this year ' both in terms of looks and its feature set.
Most will find the OS easy-to-use, larger keyboard.
No 3G, smudgy screen, little new added, scrawly inbox font, no digicam.
As useable and feature-packed as the Pearl, although its Maps function needs addressing for the Middle East region.

Sony Ericsson's 'P' series of smart phones has long been regarded as one of the high water marks of the industry ' right up until the firm's previous offering, the P990, was marked down as a relatively poor showing.
Great looks, lots of features, high build quality, very user-friendly, good memory expansion capability.
No ear-bud headset, slightly pricey.
An excellent return to form from Sony Ericsson, the P1i will give other smart phones a serious run for their money with its high-style appearance and solid performance.

It feels like it's been a long time coming, but regionally-based Windows Mobile specialist i-mate is now about to hit the market with the first two products from its Ultimate range.
Quality business features, HSDPA, XGA direct video out function.
Looks, screen lag times, small buttons, expensive.
Certainly feature-rich but a little lacking in looks and lacks speed.

On the downside, the camera is a letdown. Though it sports a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, its shots lack detail and a little bit of noise is evident even when the ambient lighting is ideal.
Its flashy looks, long list of features and great performance mean it deserves a place in your pocket.

E-mail convenience, light and funky, easy-to-use OS.
Typing tricky, low-res camera, expensive.
The convenience offered by this phone and its corresponding consumer e-mail service can't be denied, however its niggly typing buttons might drive some users to distraction!

Overall, the Excalibur offers a seriously compelling case for those in need of a mobile e-mail solution. It may not offer the custom-made efficiency of the BlackBerry OS, but it can more than hold its own - and at this price, who's arguing?
Sleek, feature-packed, apes BlackBerry style, price.
Subjective OS, whizzy scrollbar, no 3G.
Want a decent push e-mail handheld? Try pulling this Excalibur from the smartphone stone.

As a phone, the i-mate is again top drawer stuff. Voice quality is clear and we didn't hear one echo during our testing period.
While the i-mate JasJam is certainly not cheap, you get your money's worth. It's fast, packed with features and very easy to use.

Interacting with the P525 is very straightforward, as its screen is very responsive when using the stylus and, if you wish to navigate menus quickly, there's also a five-way directional joystick in the centre of the dialing pad. The PDA's shape also ...
If you're in the market for a PDA with intuitive phone functionality, there's no beating the Asus P525 thanks to its dedicated dialing pad.
