Kyocera Hydro (Boost Mobile)

Kyocera's Hydro by Boost Mobile offers a waterproof design and affordable monthly plans, but you don't get 4G.

Waterproof design; Affordable unlimited plan; Eco Mode app helps conserve power; Loud speaker

Below-average battery life; Underwhelming performance; Low-res display; No 4G data

Click to EnlargeThe Kyocera Hydro is certainly a waterproof wonder, making it a good choice for people who are rough on their phones. We also like the affordable monthly plans Boost offers. However, the below-average battery life and low-res display...

Kyocera Hydro (Boost Mobile)

Whether it was because your friend unexpectedly pushed you in the pool, or you got a little clumsy around your toilet (don't worry, I won't judge you for browsing the Web while in the bathroom), going through the dreaded I-dropped-my-phone-in-water...

The Kyocera Hydro from Boost and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is waterproof, and has excellent call quality.

The Hydro has slow data and processor speeds, its speaker volume is low, and its profile is thick.

With Android 4.0, solid call quality, and waterproof capabilities, the Kyocera Hydro is a great prepaid device.

Kyocera Hydro (Boost Mobile)

Have you ever wanted to take your smartphone in the shower? Now's your chance. The aptly named Kyocera Hydro , Boost Mobile's latest Android handset, is waterproof in up to three feet of water. It also boasts some pretty good call quality and a nearly...

Waterproof. Good call quality. Runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) without overlays

Spotty performance. No 4G. Poor camera. Low-res display

The Kyocera Hydro is an inexpensive Android smartphone for Boost Mobile that you can take in the shower, but don't expect high-end performance.

"Over 2 mos to get NEW phone back from being repaired!"

Had problems out of the box and had to send it to NY for repairs. It took OVER 2 MONTHS to get back. This after calling Kyocera and they said they "expedited the repair". Poor, poor, poor, customer service! Asked to speak with supervisor and they...

Price.

Poor quality, warranty and service, can't read barcodes due to the camera, can't set # of rings, layout of phone screen, TOO sensitive proximity sensor - interrupts your call OFTEN, on/off button tends to break. Won't Sync with Skydrive/Dropbox.

"Great value and quality for it's class."

Since the Hydro is my first smart phone I can't really give a good fair comparison against other brands but I am know there are much better phones out there for a premium price. Overall i do believe it's a great value in it's class for the money. For...

Water resistance is a huge plus when getting wet. Works fairly efficient for entry level phone and functions are very responsive. Voice dial works perfect. Screen resolution is clear & sharp. Web browser fairly quick.

Not sure if it's every touch screen phone, but this screen for texting is terrible (too sensitive), I still prefer actual buttons for texting. Could use longer battery life. Could use a more powerful processor for higher video playback resolution.

"piece of crap phone"

i hate this piece of worthless crap phone

-nothing is good on this phone other than it's size

- manual with phone has limited information on setting it up as in all features.

"A Great Phone From a So-So Company (Kyocera)"

Overall I am impressed with this phone. As an entry level phone I have found it to be reliable and fairly responsive in regular use. It lags for unacceptably long periods when trying to load graphics intensive games and occasionally freezes but for the...

Affordable

Freezes occasionally when turning on WiFi

"Cheap ICS waterproof phone, so it has a slow processor."

MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: PHONE is definitely waterproof, that being said there are CONSEQUENCES to dropping the phone in water, i purposely did to see how cool waterproof was, and while awesome, the heapohone jack is separate from the rest of the phone...

Incredibly cheap. You get at least your money's worth. Compared to the other ICS phones on boost, it is an incredible deal. 5/5 when price is considered.

The slow processor causes some hiccups, weak camera, and only 3g, but since it is on boost (sprint) there are no 4g WiMax towers in my neighborhood (or even close), so thats a null point for 95% of the US.
