Lenovo Miix 2 8 review: A fast tablet that's short on features

Aside from its speed and long battery life, little about this 8-inch device sets it apart from its strong competition.

Very thin and light ; Great benchmark performance and battery life ; Touch-sensitive Windows button

Too few I/O ports ; Screen too bright for nighttime reading ; Speakers distort at high volume

Lenovo’s Miix 2 8 delivers great performance and battery life, but these upsides are tempered by a dearth of extra features.

Lenovo Miix 2 8

Compact. Over 8.5 hours of battery life. Affordable price. Includes Office Home & Student. Small text in desktop mode. Easy to hold and use

Small SSD. Only 9 GB of storage free after initial setup. No docking keyboard option. USB Host requires dongle. No HDMI or DisplayPort

The Lenovo Miix 2 8 is an affordable Windows 8 tablet with good battery life and features. Just make sure you always have access to the Internet, as local storage is a little light on this tablet.

Lenovo Miix2 8"

The Lenovo Miix 2, this 8" version, is a Windows tablet that reviews describe as a decent low-cost option for those who want to skip Android or the Apple iPad . It has an attractive and compact design according to Cliff Joseph of PC Advisor, and other...

Affordably priced, Runs the full version of Windows 8.1, Great looks and slim design

Lenovo Miix 2 8 Review

Lenovo has made a decent, low-cost 8-inch tablet that runs a full copy of Windows 8.1. The use of aluminum as part of the Miix 2 8's slim design is great to see, and its overall size feels quite comfortable in the hand. Unfortunately there's one major...

Decent 8-inch design that's slim, portable and usable. Good battery life.

Major touchscreen issues make this tablet incredibly frustrating to use. Display features a low resolution.

Unlike smartphones, the battery life of a tablet isn’t something you need to watch like a hawk. Most tablets I’ve used over the past few years have had very good battery life, easily lasting a day or more with light-to-moderate usage. The Miix 2 8 is...

Lenovo Miix 2 8 -- Windows 8.1 tablet with an 8-inch screen done right [Review]

To say Windows 8.x is a controversial operating system is an understatement. Heck, it is downright polarizing, causing a schism between users that love it and others that hate it. It has arguably

So, do I recommend this tablet? Absolutely... if you want a Windows tablet. Despite its faults, it is a fun computer to use. If you just want to play Angry Birds and surf the web, you can probably do better for the money. However, if you are a...

Lenovo Miix 2 8 First Impressions

After looking at the great Windows 8 tablet deals , the $250 Lenovo Miix 2 8 looked like a steal for someone wanting to try Windows 8.1 on a small tablet. I hoped to use it on the go as a tablet, with a Bluetooth keyboard as a mini laptop replacement...

The Lenovo Miix 2 8 hardware impresses, but Windows 8.1 still falls behind Android and iOS in important ways. Too many things in Windows 8.1 don’t work well with fingertips touching them and it hogs too much storage.

Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 2 8″ Review

The Miix 2 is a very capable tablet but not a tablet for everyone. It can be complicated or cumbersome for some folks but it is very powerful and versatile. If you need a simple and elegant device just to run apps and games, you might be better off...

Lenovo Miix 2 8 Review and Ratings

This attractive, well-made, and affordable Windows 8.1 tablet performs well and has a good-looking screen. It's a fine budget pick until 64-bit-capable Atom tablets emerge.

Peppy Bay Trail Atom processor ; Thin, light, and attractive ; Decent battery life, display ; Solid build quality for the price

Stylus costs extra ; 64-bit support still lacking

A few months back, the competition in the market for compact Android tablets started heating up. Now, we’re starting to see 8-inch Windows 8.1 slates that perform reasonably well and have fairly decent battery lives. But the real story here is that...

Lenovo Miix 2 8 review

Other features include a 2 Mp front camera, 5 Mp rear camera, and a combined headphone/microphone socket. That's the only configuration available here in the UK, although Lenovo is also planning to make 10-inch and 11-inch models that we hope to review...

With its attractive, compact design and sub-£300 price tag the Miix 2 8 is one of the new Windows tablets that provides a more affordable alternative to the Microsoft Surface. It can't go head-to-head with the iPad and Android tablets in terms of apps,...
