Motorola Brute i686 (graphite, Sprint Nextel)

When we first looked at the Motorola Brute i686, we wondered if there was a mistake. It seemed practically identical to the Motorola Brute i680, its predecessor. Even the overall features are similar--the 2-megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, and of...

The Motorola Brute i686 has a very rugged and durable design, plus a decent feature set that includes push-to-talk, GPS, and a 2-megapixel camera. Call quality is very impressive

The Motorola Brute i686 is only very slightly different from its predecessor, the Brute i680. There's no external camera shutter button, photo quality is average at best, and we wish there were a 3.5mm headset jack

The Motorola Brute i686 can take a longer dunk in water, but is otherwise identical to the Brute i680. It's not the prettiest phone on the block, but it's incredibly durable with great call quality to boot.

Motorola Brute i686 (Sprint)

The i686 has a 2-megapixel fixed-focus camera with an LED flash and can geo-tag photos. Picture quality was average, at best. Test photos mostly looked blurry and washed out, and details were lacking. The camera can also record videos at...

Extremely rugged. Very good voice quality. Powerful speakerphone. Great battery life

Not the most durable phone we've tested. Poor Web and video features

The Motorola Brute i686 is a good choice for Sprint users that need a rugged push-to-talk device, but it feels a few years old already.

Motorola Brute i686 Review by Sydney | PhoneDog

Most of the cell phones that are made today feature beautiful touchscreens, luxurious designs, and slim bodies. For some people, that's great. For others, that kind of phone wouldn't last a minute in their life. To the latter group, we've got a...

Extremely durable; Direct Connect; useful features for those who work or spend a lot of time outdoors

Glitchy; high price; iDEN device (iDEN will be

It may be the most durable phone I've ever tested, but the freezing-up is what's keeps me from recommending it.

"Terrible phone, Don't waste your money."

We have over 50 of these phone in our company and I had to send back and replace 75% of them already. Batteries don't charge all the way. They Turn off and don't turn back on till you remove the battery and re-insert it. So if you are looking for an...

Durable and sealed well, Nextel piece is the only part of this phone that seems to work.

hard to hear, drops calls antenna seems to turn off all on it own for no apparent reason. No antenna so reception is shoddy. one of my employees dropped this "rugged" phone the first wee he had it and the display broke.

When I first picked up the phone, I thought "great ! .. it actually fits my hand and the tiny button are gone on the keypad". My first call was crystal clear and I live in the boonies. Strong reception, too .. now I get 3 bars instead of 1 bar from...

Horrible waste of money/time

Really, not much. It works til it doesn't, and it doesn't way too quickly

Fragile. Garbage hinge. I bought 70+ for our company and they keep coming back within a couple weeks with the flip partially or completely detached. Sure some of the guys beat up their phones, but not everyone. Even then, they should be able to withst

Read the i680 reviews. Similar phone.

Get a warranty rider in writing for the hinge. If you want a look into your future, read up on the hinge problems of the i680. Run a google search on "i680 hinge bulletin" and read the motorola service links. If you still want to buy this phone, get a...

Has the same initial quality and look of the i680. The CNET editors were fooled by the i680

This phone looks like the i680 and very likely suffers the same hinge design flaw
