Motorola Debut i856 (Boost Mobile)

Most iDEN push-to-talk phones are quite bulky, and come in either a clamshell or candy bar design. However, the Motorola Debut bucks that trend. It is the first ever iDEN push-to-talk phone to come in a slider design, which gives it a rather svelte...

The Motorola Debut has a slim slider design, plus it comes with push-to-talk, GPS, a 1.3-megapixel camera, and a good music player. It also has very good call quality

The Motorola Debut suffers from poor keypad design and a low-resolution display

If you can live with a few design quirks, the Motorola Debut is a decent, basic, multimedia phone for Boost Mobile.

Motorola Debut i856

The Motorola Debut i856 is a nifty iDEN push-to-talk phone for Boost Mobile subscribers. As Sprint's wholly owned prepaid brand, Boost sells plenty of iDEN phones already. But the i856 is the first slider with PTT capability. Despite a few stumbles, it...

Solid voice quality. Loud speakerphone. Good battery life. Feels durable

Stiff, cramped membrane keypad. Low-res LCD. Unreliable Bluetooth pairing

The Motorola Debut i856 sits nicely in Boost Mobile's push-to-talk lineup, offering subscribers a stylish slider with GPS and good quality, but other iDEN options are better.

Push-to-talk phone is stylish and capable

Before the introduction of the Motorola Debut i856, all push-to-talk (walkie-talkie) phones were either candy-bar style or flip phones. Nextel's Motorola Debut is the first push-to-talk slider phone and reviewers give it high marks for its...

Very good call quality, sleek slider design, good music player

Poor keyboard design, short battery life

Motorola Debut i856 for Boost Mobile

Boost Mobile is a division of Sprint that offers cellular customers the option of services without the need for a contract. Whether you have bad credit, or just don't like the thought of having a long term phone contract hovering over your head, Boost...

You can sort your contacts into different groups, and since it is a push-to-talk phone, there is a separate category for those specific contacts as well. You can also add a photo or ringtone to each contact. There are 21 standard polyphonic ringtones...

Motorola i856 debuted

The Motorola i856 is the first slider cellphone with a Boost push-to-talk service. But when you look at the rest of the features, it is more or same like an entry level phone as it comes with a 1.3 MP camera, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, a microSD...

Surprising little phone

As the first slider for Nextel it has no rival. Unlike many iden phones this is not military spec. This is a solidly built little phone but does not look like it would take much abuse, or moisture. The battery life is okay, but great if you get the...

very good call quality, good mp3 player

Music button placement

It is nice to have a music player with the features this has built in, with me and charged when I want it. I like the slider type phone

It is unreliable, I'll bet they will have to replace this one for the second time under warranty. This is only the 3rd different cell phone I have had in 11 years, so I'm not hard on them. It seem trouble prone

Great audio and visual. Nice apps

Lots of dropped calls with this phone. I have another phone with the same provider as the Debut i856 and do not have the same amount of problems with signal

Good basic phone

Went to this phone from Sprint/Nextel service. Yes pretty much the same carrier, but this phone works better than the Phone service I was getting from Sprint and better than the 2-way which I was getting with my Hybrid Ic502 and 602. Internet is slow...

Good Clear Phone Calls ; Great 2 Way service ; Improved texting functions (still not to par with other Carriers) ; Durable design phone ; Better than average rural coverage signal strength

poor battery life (but no different than other similar IDEN phones I have had) ; clumsy Navigation key to navigate thru different phone options ; Texting is better but still is kind of frustrating as it suggests some crazy suggestions of words
