Moto Z2 Play review

Moto Z2 Play is at the helm of a new marketing strategy free of any Lenovo branding that may burden the series with unnecessary heritage. Navigating through the lucrative but overcrowded upper-midrange territory sure isn't easy, but a useful innovation...

Moto Z2 Force, reviewed: Great phone, but wow it's not cheap

Motorola's flagship modular-accessory phone has lots of features, but phone season's just getting started.

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering. The new dual rear cameras have some cool features we haven't seen before.

It's a really high price for a phone that doesn't do anything terribly new or exciting. The modular accessories are sometimes fun, but generally not worth the hassle. There's also no headphone jack, and it's more splash-resistant than water-resistant.

Motorola's step-up sequel to the Moto Z2 has great features and solid design, but the competition in this price range is about to get fierce.

This new Moto phone's battery lasts 17 hours

Its all-day battery life makes it one of the longest-lasting phones you can buy.

The Moto Z2 Play has a beautiful screen and all-day battery life. There’s expandable storage, lots of software tricks and even a headphone jack.

Its best software feature doesn’t always work. The phone feels wide and uncomfortable without a magnetic back cover, and not much better with covers that don’t fit well. Last year’s Z Play had much longer battery life.

Strong battery life, clever software and magnetic Mod add-ons make the Motorola Z2 Play a compelling midrange choice.

Motorola Moto Z2 Play review: thinner, lighter, better

A smaller battery doesn't tarnish the Z2 Play's shine

Slim, light design ; Excellent battery life ; Smart software enhancements

Camera could use optical stabilization ; Fingerprint gestures are clumsy ; Only available unlocked or from Verizon

Still, the Z2 Play provides a great mix of what matters without any unnecessary stuff piled on. And it does so with better battery life than even most flagships can provide. When you think about it, isn’t that all you really want from a phone?

Motorola Moto Z2 Play

The Z2 Play is a unique unlocked phone that combines solid performance with a modular design that taps into Motorola's Moto Mods add-ons.

Useful modular design. Current software and virtually no bloatware. Compatible with all major US carriers. Long battery life.

Difficult to use with one hand. Tinny speaker. Slightly pricey for the specs.

The $499 Moto Z2 Play is yet another solid modular phone from Motorola. On its own, it offers respectable performance, long battery life, and compatibility with all major US carriers. It pulls ahead of some of the competition when you start snapping on...

Motorola Moto Z2 Play Review

Join us as we take a look at the new Moto Z2 Play, as well as a trio of new Moto Mods.

Attractive, thin design ; Decent battery life ; Motorola's Android UI tweaks work great ; Largely satisfying camera ; Modular hardware is an open door for new features

Display not bright enough, colors not accurate ; Sound quality is not very satisfying ; Recharge times should be faster ; Performance not a huge upgrade over first-gen model ; Moto Mods can add significant cost to ownership

Moto Z2 Play review: Slimmer, minor updates, and a bigger price tag

Our Moto Z2 Play review takes a look at the updated version of the cheaper version and sees if the slimmer design can keep up with the functionality and battery life of the original.

Quality design ; Thinner ; Sleeker looking ; New Moto One Button Nav feature ; Decent camera ; 3.5mm headphone jack ; Front LED flash

Smaller battery than the Moto Z Play ; Not enough of an upgrade over the original Moto Z Play ; Pricey ; Much larger camera hump
