Motorola Titanium (Sprint)

With the Titanium, Sprint and Motorola insult Nextel users by throwing them an obsolete bone of an Android smartphone.

Awesome speakerphone. Nice physical keyboard. Long battery life.

Unacceptably slow performance. Obsolete version of Android. 1994-era data speeds. Poor video recording and playback.

Android and Apps I rarely experience rage when reviewing mobile phones. I'm known in the industry as a pretty forgiving guy. But the Titanium is so slow, it made me want to throw it out the window. Its Freescale processor is slower and more inefficient...

Even though Sprint has indicated it will start the transition from iDEN to CDMA by the end of the year , it continues to release iDEN devices. Sprint has said that it will phase out its iDEN services by 2013, so it still has a few more years left to...

The Motorola Titanium is military-certified for durability. It has a responsive touch screen, a great tactile keyboard, push-to-talk functionality, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and good call quality.

The Motorola Titanium is saddled with Android 2.1 Eclair. It does not have 3G speeds. Performance can be a little sluggish.

The Motorola Titanium is probably the best iDEN smartphone available, but with outdated software and no 3G, it's far from the most advanced Android handset.

Nextel's iDEN network may not be the most advanced one out there, but the Direct Connect feature that comes with their phones has been coveted for years. So much so that Sprint has held on to the network much longer than made sense.

Good 5-megapixel camera; excellent call quality; rugged phone; good battery life; Direct Connect features; great physical keyboard

Terrible, slow processor; iDEN network; Motorola's UI is not the best one out there; ships with an outdated version of the OS; keyboard is great but may be too small for some

Motorola Titanium review

The Motorola Titanium is a push-to-talk (PTT) Android phone, ruggedised for use in tough work environments.

A rugged smartphone with crystal clear calls, the Motorola Titanium will be ideal for site workers who want to check email and social media. But without Wi-Fi access other connected smartphone features are slow.
