Unique Design, Improved Interface, Large Keypad

Oddly Shaped, Display, Camera, Battery Life

The N343i is an average handset which has a unique style and design. It doesn't break any new ground, but at a competitive price it may be an option for low end users.

NEC N343i

The NEC N343i's glossy white design reminds us somewhat of an iPod. As it's an i-mode phone, it's only currently available in Australia through Telstra.

Attractive white and silver glossy design ; Navigation improved from previous NEC models ; Supports i-mode on Telstra's network

Navigation stick can tire your thumb ; Average-sized 65K colour screen ; No video recorder

The N343i retails for $179 and is available from Telstra stores and Telstra Dealers nationally.

NEC N343i I-Mode Phone

This prepay i-mode primer flaunts distinctive looks, almost mimicking the iPod's white livery. Its rigid, clean lines look classy while its slimline frame gives it aspirations above its affordable prepay status.

An individual design and sleek SLVR-esque profile make it stand out from the i-mode crowd.

The screen is poor and there's scant internal memory.

The distinct design doesn't match its feature set (shame) but it's a good starting point for i-mode dabblers short on cash

"For its price, an excellent choice"

I think I've been detailed enough...

For $99 from Camberwell Telstra Shop [684 Burke Road], a phone of this quality is brilliant. My last phone was a Sony Ericsson T68i, and it was an alright phone, but this one is great. The keys make it easier to type, you can always turn off the T9...

The menu screen is quite chunky, and the settings are confusing. When I say "chunky", I mean it is hard to remember what selection is where, because you have to scroll through the menu one by one instead of [this is what I like about my old phone]...
