NEC N412i Cell Phone Review

The N412i Horizon is the slimmest ever, ultra-cool mobile. Take photos with the 1.3 megapixel camera and print them straight from your phone using PictBridge™ technology. Stay in touch with your world with innovative i-mode™ services, plus Bluetooth™...

NEC N412i

The NEC N412i is a fine piece of industrial design, being the world's thinnest mobile phone handset at the time of its release. Unfortunately, despite...

Extremely thin and light form factor, Crisp internal screen, Convenient external screen, Good call quality

Issues with build quality, Poorly designed keypad layout, Frustrating user interface, Only 26MB of internal memory, Useless handle adds unnecessary bulk, Battery not removable, No hands-free speakerphone

The N412i is an admirable effort by NEC to provide an extremely thin and stylish mobile handset, but it sacrifices too many features to do so.

NEC N412i

The Japanese mobile phone maker has outdone the immensely popular Razr V3 with an even slimmer phone that packs more PIM and multimedia features.

Ultraslim design; 1.3-megapixel camera; i-mode access; Bluetooth; PictBridge; phone conversation recording

Non-removable battery; no speakerphone function, memory expansion slot not available; limited onboard memory

For a clamshell that's thinner than most candy bars in the market now, the NEC N412i is truly feature-rich. However, there are tradeoffs to its slim form factor, among them the fixed battery and lack of memory expansion.

NEC N412i

This handset from NEC is a major nightmare for the camp at Motorola, who, for a long while, had the thinnest handset in the world in their possession. Now NEC have come along and smashed this record by a mere millimetre, and the result is the NEC N412i.
