NEC Terrain (AT&T)

Rugged, waterproof, and equipped with a convenient portrait keyboard for all your messaging needs, the NEC Terrain is one device that can handle just about anything.

NEC's waterproof and rugged Terrain features 4G LTE, push-to-talk, and an easy-to-use QWERTY keyboard.

The Terrain is unattractively heavy, runs the dated Android 4.0 OS, and records poor video.

If you want a rugged AT&T handset, pick NEC's sturdy Terrain, but those in search of a more stylish device should consider the pocket-friendly Samsung Rugby Pro.

NEC Terrain (AT&T)

The NEC Terrain smartphone is a throwback to the golden age of BlackBerrys, which isn't entirely a compliment.

Rugged design. Physical keyboard. Fast LTE. Push-to-talk support

Tiny, low-res screen. Cramped physical keyboard. Poor cameras. Obsolete version of Android

There's little about the NEC Terrain ($99.99) that doesn't say "old school": The small screen, the hefty dimensions, the company behind it, the physical keyboard, and even the oversized packaging all speak to an earlier decade of phones. There's...

NEC Terrain

The NEC Terrain is a rugged LTE phone that can take a beating, but a cramped keyboard, low-res screen, and short battery life make it less than useful for workers out in the field.

Durable waterproof design; Reliable push-to-talk; Solid QWERTY keyboard; Very bright display

Fairly heavy; Small screen; Short battery life; Lacks the overall performance of current Android phones

As a purpose-built smartphone, the NEC Terrain lives up to its rugged claims, and the reliable push-to-talk functionality makes on-site communication a breeze for field workers. However, while it has a physical keyboard, the keys are a bit too cramped,...

PTT is a pain if you don't use it!! The Battery makes this phone almost useless

the battery makes this phone useless for this "biker" with no way to keep it plugged in at all times!! My 2 1/2 year old blackberry lasts longer than this band new NEC. Loved the thought of a Android with BUTTONS but can't use it as I'd like because...

Finally a replacement for Blackberry

I've been looking for a Blackberry replacement for a long time. This really works. Good keyboard, adequate screen, good for writing emails. It works fine and battery life is OK.

Tough with keyboard and awesome battery

I purchased the NEC Terrain because I was looking for a smartphone with a keyboard, and was sorely disappointed by the blackberry q10, with both it's operating system, as well as its lack of apps/support. I couldn't make it past a 30 minute test drive...

Battery Life is so bad i cannot believe it made it onto the market

Nice android phone with a keyboard. The rugged feature is in the way of normal use & the PTT is annoying if u don't need it. The battery life is the worst. Its that bad that if u use it while the phone is plugged in it still keeps going down.
