Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition (Unlocked)

The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition is a powerful Symbian smartphone and a competent navigator, but several major features are missing.

Loud, clear voice prompts. Sharp graphics. Accurate navigation. Fast performance. Low price for an unlocked device of this caliber.

No text-to-speech, or lane assist. Touch interface is sluggish and difficult.

Call Quality, Camera, and Conclusions Otherwise, the 5800 is a competent but flawed unlocked Symbian Series 60 smartphone. A brief recap: the 5800 is a slim, thick, lightweight slab. It measures 4.4 by 2.0 by 0.6 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.8 ounces. The...

Nokia 5800 Review of Camera – Not That Good

I've taken several photos with the Nokia 5800 and it makes me miss my N85 and especially the Nokia N82. The photos from the Nokia 5800 are noticeably worse. Take a look at sample photos I took this past weekend.

For a 3 megapixel Carl-Zeiss camera with dual-LED’s flash, I was hoping to see better pictures from the Nokia 5800. It did not meet my expectations, but maybe I expected too much. What do you think? Does it meet your expectations?

Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition (Unlocked)

Route recalculations are slow and positioning was frequently off by at least half a block. User interface is a bit confusing at first.

As one of the more affordably priced handsets from the company, the Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition is a good value, offering road warriors a midlevel device with decent navigation skills and the freedom of an unlocked phone.
