Nokia 7230 Review

The Nokia 7230 is a 3G entry level slider that was released earlier this year running Nokia's S40. Although it is a basic slider, the phone still sports some decent features such as a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and therefore...

While it isn't exactly state of the art when it comes to specification, the 7230 does come with 3G support, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a 2.4" QVGA resolution display, FM radio, Bluetooth, microSD expandable memory (with 2GB in the standard sales package)...

Can Nokia's budget 3G slider really mix it with the best?

3G connectivity on a budget ; Stylish design and ergonomic feel ; Ease of calling and messaging ; Impressive internet experience ; Good quality apps pre-loaded ; Decent outdoor images from the 3.2MP camera

The disappointing performance of Ovi ; Incredibly slow email ; Poor audio quality of media player ; Lack of flash on the camera ; Low-quality indoor and low light snaps ; Less-than-intuitive interface

A simple but effective low-cost slider phone.

Low price ; Compact form factor

Poor screen ; Shoddy Camera ; No Wi-Fi

What makes this all the more baffling is that this phone has a proper headphone jack, making it easy to use your own choice of headphones – something that's much rarer on cheap handsets. Alongside the headphone jack is a micro-USB socket for connecting...

Nokia 7230 review

We like the Nokia 7230's luxurious styling, simplicity and slide-out keypad, but it doesn't offer anything that makes it stand out from the crowd

Attractive, curvaceous design ; Easy to use

No HSDPA support ; Poor camera ; Noisy audio output

Conclusion Apart from its sexy styling, the Nokia 7230 offers little to get really excited about. It gets most of the basics right -- it's easy to use, offers good call quality and a spacious keypad -- but it doesn't offer anything that you can't get...

Nokia 7230 Review

The Nokia 7230 feels like quite a sturdy handset and we can't fault the build quality - it's nicely put together.

If it's a basic yet sturdy handset you're after then you could do a lot worse than the Nokia 7230; like all basic Nokias before it, it excels at calling, texting and generally being easy to get to grips with.

The 7230 is a feature-packed prepaid let down by call quality issues and a few design quirks.

Sleek design ; Feature-rich ; Doubles as a decent music player ; 2GB memory included

Screen's poor viewing angle ; Nav-pad lacks definition ; Call quality suffers in both directions

The Nokia 7230 is a sexy-looking phone and a feature-packed prepaid option let down in some measure by a few design quirks and less-than perfect calling hardware. In this price range there will always be a few trade-offs, but we can only wish that...

Nokia 7230 Review by 3G.co.uk

You're unlikely to find anything better for the money.

A simple, attractive grid interface, good navigation thanks toOvi Maps, a 3.5mm audio port, 3G internet speeds and backup from Ovi.com

It takes some time to load even basic programs, and the only instant messaging available is Ovi Messaging

The Nokia 7230 is a good deal for a hundred quid – you're unlikely to find anything better for the money.
