Nokia 9290 Communicator review

In the mid-1990s, Nokia wowed Americans with one of the first phone/PDA combos, the 9000i Communicator. At the time, it was a breakthrough product that today has a permanent home in the Smithsonian. The company's latest Communicator for the United...

Sharp color screen; can be used to access and respond to corporate e-mail, as well as browse Web pages and wireless Web sites; IR port; syncs with Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes; MultiMedia Card expansion slot.

Big and bulky; navigation a bit clunky; doesn't support next-generation high-speed data networks.

This phone/PDA combo has a lot going for it, including an impressive color screen, but some will be turned off by its heftiness.

This is not a small unit, no GPRS support is a shame given the large screen size and excellent web browser included

A very full featured device! It's nearly impossible to list all the features and capabilities of this PDA + phone combo. Despite the number of applications and features included with this unit, it's very easy to operate and likely won't overwhelm you....

Review: Nokia 9290 Phone

The guys at Nokia recently sent me their own version of the Uber phone, the Nokia 9290. It's been out for a while in the UK but only recently became available in North America. First up, it runs off a GSM network (Microcell/Fido) so coverage is not as...

Remember when the BlackBerry Storm was supposed to be RIM’s answer to the iPhone? It didn't quite enjoy the kind of success that Jim Balsillie and crew would have wanted, but here we find ourselves again with another supposed iPhone killer in the form...
