Nokia Asha 503

However, the plaudits stop there. The $99 unlocked global smartphone's low-quality, low-resolution screen, iffy call quality, fixed camera focus, and jerky navigation are markers of the 503's budget status, even as it's the most generously appointed...

Nokia's Asha 503 has a sturdy, eye-catching design that's entirely pocketable and easy to use one-handed. It's Wi-Fi capable, packs in a camera flash, and won't break the bank.

Poor screen quality on the Asha 503 makes reading the display unpleasant. The camera's fixed-focused lens takes mediocre photos, and speakerphone volume is too low to be useful. Navigation is slow and jerky.

Its surprising design is the best thing about the Nokia Asha 503, but if you're looking for a traditional smartphone experience, its underperformance will only disappoint..

Nokia Asha 503 Review

The Nokia Asha 503 is a fun little affordable feature phone coming in vibrant colorful tones…

Colorful fun design ; Decent 5-megapixel camera

Underpowered feature phone with very limited functionality and poor apps ; Poor display

With a price of around $99 (€99 in Europe), the Asha 503 is without a doubt an affordable device, but in this day and age there are plenty of smartphones offering much more for the same price.

Nokia Asha 503 review

A bargain handset that is full of features, but not that smart

Great battery life ; 5 MP camera ; Replaceable rear cover ; Easy to use ; Cheap

Small, low res screen ; No GPS ; No front camera ; Small selection of apps

Nokia has managed to design and produce a solid device for under £100, and for the price it's hard to complain about the problems. The bulky frame can be taken one of two ways. Either you think it feels rugged and durable, or chunky and a waste of space.

Nokia Asha 503 review

With its cheap price and unusual, attractive design, the Nokia Asha 503 is a budget phone for essential calls, texts and social networking. Even so, its poor screen and meagre selection of apps means it's perhaps worth looking at low-cost Android phones.

Dirt cheap ; Attractive, fun design ; Solid build quality ; Expandable storage

Unpleasant, low-resolution screen ; Sluggish performance ; App selection is extremely limited

If you're after a phone for the absolute essential tasks of calls, texts and a spot of social networking, the Nokia Asha 503 will provide exactly that and asks for very little money in return. Its poor screen however, together with its sluggish...

Nokia Asha 503 review

On the plus side, the Asha 503 only weighs 110.2g and yet it still feels incredibly solid and sturdy in your hand. It's the sort of smartphone that you'd have to be really unlucky to physically break.

Nokia Asha 503 leaves a lot to be desire, it lacks performance, apps and reliability, but what it does have is affordability. The 502 really is an entry level smartphone that should only be considered if you are desperate to get your hands on a...

Nokia Asha 503 Review: In Depth

The Nokia Asha 503 is a fun-looking feature phone with a 3-inch touchscreen and a 5-megapixel camera.

Fun, eye-catching design ; 5-megapixel camera ; Lightweight, compact build

Poor value for money ; Low resolution screen ; No GPS ; Lacklustre apps and browser

Any parents thinking of getting this one for their kids, don’t.
