Nokia Lumia 820 for AT&T: what's different?

The Lumia 920 isn't the only Nokia Windows Phone gracing AT&T shelves this winter, even though it receives the lion's share of the attention. In its

Strong performance ; Decent low-light photography

Disappointing screen ; Lumia 920 on AT&T has much more storage ; Lacks some of the Lumia 920's camera abilities

It's difficult to recommend the Lumia 820 when the 920 on AT&T offers a better screen, additional storage, superior camera performance and wireless charging accessories for $50 more.

Nokia Lumia 820 review: Backup squad

Back up against the wall, Nokia looks to the launch of the first Windows Phone 8 smartphones as a make or break moment. It's not essential for the Lumia 820 and Lumia 920 to become bestsellers, but it's absolutely vital that they convince users of...

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support ; Quad-band 3G with 42 Mbps HSDPA and 5.7 Mbps HSUPA support ; 4.3" 16M-color ClearBlack AMOLED display of WVGA resolution ; 8 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 1080p@30fps video recording ; VGA front-facing...

App catalog falls short of Android and iOS ; No system-wide file manager ; No lockscreen shortcuts ; Pretty large and heavy for the screen size

It's easy to appreciate the Nokia Lumia 820 for its build quality and level of equipment, but when you realize it's just the sensible, mid-range package by the Finns, you may even begin to be impressed. As the Windows Phone platform is growing out of...

Nokia Lumia 820 review: a less expensive option for the Windows Phone crowd

Flagship-quality processor ; Covers offer wireless charging, extra functionality ; Decent low-light photography

Disappointing screen ; Lacks all the camera skills of the Lumia 920 ; Unwieldy

Unfortunately the Lumia 820 can't offer enough to warrant not splashing out the extra cash for the 920 model.

Review: Nokia Lumia 820

Nokia's Lumia 820 isn't a flagship phone, and it's not here to impress veteran smartphone users. But with an on-contract price of just $50, the...

Fast and polished Windows Phone 8 interface. Lighter and thinner than other Nokia Windows phones, easy to use with one hand. Removable covers add value, once you know how to take them off. Great price for what you’re getting

Buying into wireless charging ends up costing more than the phone. Display is unimpressive. Actually getting the removable back cover off is a challenge. Brick-like design is uninspired

Nokia Lumia 820 (AT&T)

The Nokia Lumia 820 smartphone isn't bad, but for just a few dollars more you can get something great.

Exclusive Nokia mapping and driving apps. Color cover options. Fast.

Low-res screen. Dull design. Camera gets very noisy in low light.

Conclusions Given the vast cost of a two-year AT&T smartphone contract, the difference between paying $75 and $99 for your smartphone shouldn't be taken seriously. Unfortunately, that leaves the Lumia 820 outclassed by a range of $99 devices. The Lumia...

Nokia Lumia 820 review

It may only cost $50 for AT&T after a new, two-year service agreement, but the Nokia Lumia 820 isn't just a pretty price tag.

AT&T's Nokia Lumia 820 offers Windows Phone 8, 4G LTE, and a terrifically low subsidized price.

This Lumia is heavy, a little slippery, and has a short battery life. Data speeds were variable.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, approachable smartphone with a few more features, the Nokia Lumia 820's price tag is tough to beat.

Nokia Lumia 820 review

Nokia's focus with Windows Phone 8 might be on its Lumia 920 handset, but the Lumia 820 might be even more appealing but for those looking at smaller and lower-cost options. It's a promising...

Removable covers ; Wireless charging ; Good size for one handed use

Display and resolution ; Camera can be hit and miss ; Boring design

This device will serve you well, but you're better off with a Lumia 920

Review Nokia Lumia 820 Smartphone

Colorful midrange. After Nokia has seemingly assumed a leading ro

Good workmanship; High-def, 4.3 inch AMOLED screen; Windows Phone 8 intuitive use; Connectivity includes LTE, NFC, dual-band Wi-Fi; Swift hardware; Pleasant application speed; Decent camera incl. LED; Battery life; 2 year warranty

Too heavy and unhandy in category comparison; Middling headset; Poor front-facing camera; Temperature development during load

Nokia's Lumia 820 does not yet have many contenders featuring Windows Phone 8 in the midrange sector. Among them, we find Nokia's own Lumia 920 premium model, HTC's somewhat smaller Windows Phone 8X and Samsung's identically equipped Ativ S. Buyers who...

Nokia Lumia 820 Review

We're quite excited to be reviewing the Nokia Lumia 820 – the mid-range model in the manufacturer's starting WP8 line-up. Almost as important as its beefier sibling, the Lumia 920, the 820 can give us a relatively good idea of where Nokia is going...

Built like a tank ; Great Nokia apps

Poor camera ; Sub-par call quality

The Nokia Lumia 820 is an interesting smartphone – it does well in some things, but falters in others. To be more specific, we like its solid build quality and its overall size and feel. The hardware is also good, while the Nokia-branded apps,...
