Nokia N79 review: Swiss Army knife

Nseries keep on throwing heavy-spec'd phones at us and there's no question they're hitting their best form in quite a while. About time we got less of a curve ball lookswise, Nokia N79 embodies a new approach to Nseries styling...

2.4" 16M-color LCD TFT display of QVGA resolution ; 5 megapixel autofocus camera with dual-LED flash and AF assist light ; VGA video recording at 30fps ; Symbian OS 9.3 with S60 3.2 UI ; ARM 11 369 MHz CPU ; 3G with HSDPA support ; Quad-band GSM...

No smart dialing ; Doesn't charge off USB ; No office document editing out of the box ; Not the best camera performance ; Zooming in on a photo takes ages ; No dedicated 3D graphics accelerator ; The GPS performance is not the best among Nseries

Nokia N79 is certainly one of the best equipped bars on the market. In fact there is very little (and certainly not too important) features that the phone lacks. The best part is it excuses itself from the company of most recent Nseries devices and...

Nokia N79 (unlocked) review: Nokia N79 (unlocked)

Editors' note : Portions of the Features section were taken from our review of the Nokia N96, since both smartphones share a number of similar features.

The Nokia N79 offers a slim and attractive design and packs in a load of multimedia features, including a 5-megapixel camera that takes excellent photos. The Symbian smartphone also features integrated Wi-Fi, U.S. 3G support, Bluetooth, and GPS.

The N79's navigation controls and dialpad are a little cramped, and call quality was a bit mixed.

The Nokia N79 might not be the star of the N series devices, but it still shines as a great multimedia smartphone with plenty of features and fast performance.

Nokia N79 Review

The Nokia N79 is another featured packed device in Nokia's N-Range branded handsets. At a glace physically, there won't appear to be much difference between this device to say the Nokia N78 or even the older N73. However, when you examine the N79 more...

Nokia N79

The Nokia N79 delivers extensive features, performs well and comes with intelligent covers that add something different to the N-Series. Our only real complaint is the slightly flat keypad, but overall we enjoyed using the N79.

Nokia N79 Active

The Polar Bluetooth WearLink heart rate belt communicates with the N79 wirelessly, which should make it easy to use. The N79 Active itself uses the inbuilt GPS receiver to record your training route, geotag any photos you take and the whole lot can be...

Nokia N79 Review

Nokia Maps 2.0 is also on board to make use of the built-in GPS receiver and there is a 4GB microSD card included in the sales package rather than having built in Mass Storage.Nokia N79 should be available September 2008.
