Nokia Surge 6790 (AT&T)

By (cnet.com)Read the full review

The Nokia Surge packs in a lot of features--a full HTML browser with Flash Lite support, 3G support, GPS--for an affordable price. The smartphone also provides access to social networking sites

The phone has a number of design quirks and doesn't have the best build quality. You can't dial numbers without opening the keyboard

The Nokia Surge offers AT&T's younger customers an affordable, feature-rich smartphone, but it has a number of design and interface issues.

The Nokia 6790 Surge for AT&T is a bit of a departure for the Finnish handset...

Nokia Surge

By Ginny Mies (pcworld.com)Read the full review

The Nokia Surge ($80 with a two-year contract; as of 8/10/09) is a great starter smartphone for teenagers or those wary of high-priced handsets. It has a few design quirks, and the construction is a bit flimsy, but you get a solid set of features for ...

Very slim and lightweight ; Excellent call quality

No separate numeric keypad ; Poor tactile feedback from shortcut keys

The 2-megapixel camera is adequate, but not on a par with some of the other Nokia smartphone cameras we've tested. Colors looked washed out and details lacked refinement. Video recording quality was also just average with some blurring and pixilation

Affordable. Easy access to social media sites. Good for browsing the web (much preferred this phone to my Blackberry)

The only keyboard is the one that slides out, so to dial a number or input a command, the phone must be completely open. The construction is cheap; back cover pops off easily and after only six months of use, the pieces have completely come apart

The internet is very fast. The keyboard layout is excellent. The camera is decent despite the lack of a flash. Accepts memory cards up to 8gb which is good because the built in memory is very small

There is no flash. Mono speaker on the phone exterior

"Excellent little phone I would strongly recommend it."

This is a great little phone. It has a sturdy case on it. Sounds clear, great texting phone, features very customizable. Bright screen. Feels good in the hand and does not feel cheap

My only issues are the headphone jack is not a standard size being 2.5 mm instead of 3.5mm. The numeric key pad is not standard lay out so it takes time to learn. No wifi. I would like to see the organizer and quick office with more options included
