O2 XDA Guide

The O2 XDA Guide is a fully-featured Windows smartphone featuring the TomTom Navigator 7 satellite navigation software and many other features.

O2 Xda Guide

The O2 Xda Guide uses HTC Footprints, a geotagging app for adding location details to every photo you take

Touch screen ; Good GPS ; HTC Footprints ; Wi-Fi and HSDPA 3G ; 3.2 megapixel camera

Small screen ; Fiddly keyboard ; No accelerometer ; Battery life not great ; Loudspeaker too quiet

It's classy in an understated business style, with sturdy dark grey plastic, rimmed with a chrome metallic band around the sides

O2 XDA Guide

The XDA Guide tries to marry together the world of smartphones and sat-navs. Niall investigates whether it's a match made in heaven.

navigation software and related maps obviously take up quite a bit of room. Naturally the handset has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, plus you also get HSDPA for browsing on the move via the nifty, preloaded Opera web browser.

O2 Xda Guide review

The O2 XDA Guide is a good Windows Mobile smart phone, but, despite the excellent CoPilot Live 7 navigation software, it doesn't work well as a sat-nav device, due to its small screen and weedy speaker

Feature-rich ; Useful scroll wheel ; Good navigation software

Small screen ; Speaker isn't loud enough for a sat-nav

Conclusion The O2 XDA Guide is a brave attempt to bridge the gap between smart phones and dedicated sat-navs. The problem is that it's a much better smart phone than navigation device. On the sat-nav front, the Guide's small screen and weedy speaker do...

O2 Xda Orbit 2 review

Compared to the original O2 XDA Orbit, the O2 Xda Orbit 2 adds some much needed oomph. It won't blow you away in the looks department but it's got it going on underneath the bonnet. If you need to stay connected and have a penchant for getting lost,...

Connectivity options including HSDPA ; GPS capability

Feels chunky ; Lack of flash on the camera

Our only word of warning would be that if you're used to a mechanical Qwerty keypad, then switching to a touchscreen might come as a shock -- try before you buy

o2 XDA Guide

The camera has a fixed focus and does struggle a little inlow-light where images become slightly blurry. On the bottom row hereI've included the same shot but zoomed-in using the camera zoomfunction, just so you can see how it looks. Click on each...

O2 XDA Guide review

It seems that of the ones that are slowly becoming available on certain auction sites, the price is about right as well

O2 XDA Guide

It's cute, it's clever, but only worth considering if you really need a phone with satnav

O2 seems to be doing its damnedest to make an XDA for everybody, and only time will tell if this specialisation route will prove to be profitable for the company. Thanks to its bundled CoPilot software and car kit, the Xda Guide makes a decent fist of...

O2 - XDA Orbit 2

O2 has been building its XDA range of Windows Mobile devices for some years, and the original XDA Orbit has just been refreshed with advent of the rather uninspiringly-named XDA Orbit 2. Exclusive to O2 as ...

For O2 customers the XDA Orbit 2 represents the height of smartphone capability. If you already use a smartphone from this operator, it might be worth considering an upgrade.

O2 XDA Orbit 2 review

Matt asked me to review the Orbit 2 and I remember stating, ?Copy the Polaris review and put black?, but it?s not as straight forward as that. I have been using this device for 2-3 weeks now and it?s been fun having an old friend back to...
