Orange Rio 2 review

The Orange Rio II has its failings, but the positives just about outweigh the negatives. 3G data, a full Qwerty keyboard and a startlingly low price make this ideal for budget buyers who want a BlackBerry-style experience.

Low price ; Great keyboard ; 3G

Touchscreen is of old resistive type ; Battery life is poor ; Slow processor

The Rio II improves over its predecessor with a neater design, 3G and an updated operating system. Issues such as poor battery life, no Wi-Fi, unresponsive touchscreen and a generally slow processor take the edge off its performance, but you have to...

The Orange Rio has its flaws, but not many serious ones given its price. The keyboard is great, the menus are intuitive and easy to navigate, and the touchscreen isn't bad either. For £55 on a pay-as-you-go deal, it's tough to beat

Very cheap ; Good keyboard ; Decent touchscreen ; Intuitive menu system

Some features are poorly implemented ; Dull display

If you happen to be checking out the Rio because it's very cheap, you might want to take a look at the extremely basic Tesco VX1 Party Phone, which is available for only £9.49. On the other hand, if you have a little extra to spend and like the Rio's...

This BlackBerry-style mobile phone surprises with a few ...

QWERTY keyboard works well with the touch-screen to navigate, make calls, and text, and the Home screen's two toolbars complete its intuitive setup

Below average camera and image quality, additional charge per IM

This BlackBerry-style mobile phone surprises with a few excellent features

Orange Rio 2

It may be an affordable PAYG feature phone, but the Orange Rio II surprised us with its high-end specs and great functionality.

Design wise, the Orange Rio 2 - just like its predecessor - looks like a Blackberry. It might surprise you however, the it shares most of its similarities with the BlackBerry Bold 9900, RIM's recently announced QWERTY/touchscreen hybrid. Within its...

The first thing one would notice with the Orange Rio is that it looks like a BlackBerry. In fact, it could easily pass as a BlackBerry with dimensions of 107 mm in length, 61 mm in width, and 12 mm in thickness. An all black external look and features...

The Rio mobile phone comes with a touch screen, making inputting short messages, dialing numbers, and overall navigation easier.

I really do like the Orange Rio. Its a really good make of phone, and I recommend this phone to anybody who wants simple text messaging. For a 2 Mega Pixel camera on high standard mode, seems a perfectly good view! The let downs for the Orange Rio, is...

This is a sweet little phone for very little cost, qwerty board makes TXT and EMail much quicker and easier. in the next few months I may change for the Orange Rio II version or the Orange San Francisco.

Value for money, Qwety key bad, email, touch screen

Poor keyboard illumination, poor camera no wifi
