Palm Treo 680 launches on Cingular, $199

We got a Treo here, everybody, the 680 to be exact. It is, as we all well know by now, going to go for $200 after two year service agreement (with unlimited data plan), and will be available as of Black Friday. Wii for the kids, Treo 680 for ...

Palm Treo 680 review

Palm Treo 680

The Palm Treo 680 features a sleeker design; integrated Bluetooth with the ability to use it as a wireless modem; more user-accessible memory; and e-mail capabilities. It also offers a bright touch screen and productivity tools and is easy to use.

The smart phone doesn't have integrated Wi-Fi nor does it support Palm's Wi-Fi card or voice dialing. What's more, the VGA camera is disappointing, the QWERTY keyboard is a bit cramped, and the speakerphone quality is a bit scratchy.

With a user-friendly interface, decent performance, and an affordable price point, the Palm Treo 680 is a good smart phone for the first-time buyer or for mobile users looking to be more productive on the road; we just wish it had a better camera and...

Palm Treo 680

The Palm Treo 680 is just a tiny bit better than the 650—which is either a plus or a minus, depending on who you are.

More memory than Treo 650. Still very easy to use.

Lacks high-speed data, stereo Bluetooth, multitasking, and other common modern features. Not a great speakerphone.

Palm Treo 680 Review

While other smart phone manufacturers have been piling on the features for business-centric customers, Palm has made its Treo more attractive and ultimately more appealing to the masses. While heavy-duty business travelers will bemoan a somewhat thin...

Palm Treo 680

Palm's latest smartphone will appeal to existing Palm users, but it still lags behind the Windows smartphone pack by a pretty clear margin.

Full QWERTY keyboard, Simple lock/unlock procedure, Quad-band GSM, SD card support

Sluggish performance, Audio quality could be better, Physical dialling pad is tiny, Awful VGA camera

Palm Treo 500 Windows Mobile Smartphone

Not that the Palm Treo 500 is anything dramatically new, far from it - it's Palm's unbranded version of the Palm Treo 500v (see our previous review here) which Palm exclusively launched with Vodafone Autumn last year. Nevertheless, Palm's Treo 500 is...

Palm Treo 680, the smartphone for consumers.

Since the first Treo was introduced by Handspring a couple of years ago, Palm has been spearheading the smartphone industry with the most popular line of smartphones to date. This month, I had the chance to test out the Treo 680.

Bright display ; Great call quality and speakerphone ; Decent web browsing speeds ; Excellent keyboard

Sub-par battery life ; Colors only available on Cingular version ; Delay between capturing video and pressing record button

Overall, the Palm Treo 680 is Palm's first foray into the consumer market with smartphones, and it is one of the best smartphones to be looking at if you are in the market. The Palm Treo 680 is available today for $199 with a 2 year contract from...
