Pebble Watch

The Pebble watch began its life with a simple proposition: what if a little watch could pair with your phone and run apps right from your wrist? It took about a year, but the true dream of the Pebble has finally been realized: a new Pebble app store...

The Pebble Watch is waterproof, runs a ton of apps, and works with both iOS and Android phones. A new app store improves the whole experience.

A lack of touch screen and multitasking limits the capability of apps; scratch-prone polycarbonate design doesn't feel nearly as impressive as the Pebble Steel.

With a major software update and new app store, the original Pebble gets a new lease on life -- a less stylish but arguably better value than the newer Steel.

Pebble Watch

The Pebble Watch has solid basic smart watch functions, but until promised apps and features arrive, it's more a tinkerer's tech toy than a must-have timepiece.

Lean design ; Multiple watch faces ; Standalone timekeeping ; Downloadable apps ; Water-resistant

Currently limited feature set ; Unpredictable battery life due to unclear battery indicators ; Plastic look and smaller screen feel a little dated ; Getting notifications set up in iOS and Android can be confusing

Pebble watch first look

We find out if the Pebble watch delivers on its claims or whether it's just another gimmick.

While initially impressive, the Pebble has a novelty nature about it. The watch may be useful for people who don’t always have their phones on hand to check their SMS or emails, but only time will tell whether it becomes an indispensable gadget.
