BlackBerry Torch 9810

BlackBerry only recently announced a slew of new smartphones out of which the Bold-Touch 9900 already made its mark on the nation and now it's the upgrade to the Torch. Nearly a year after the o

BlackBerry Torch 9810 (T-Mobile)

Editors' note: Portions of this review were taken from our evaluation of the BlackBerry Torch 9810 for AT&T Wireless .

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 has a sharp and vibrant touch screen, a decent physical keyboard, BlackBerry 7 OS, a 1.2GHz processor, and 720p HD video recording.

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810's design is similar to a previous generation model, and it is far more expensive than the AT&T version of the same phone.

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 should satisfy BlackBerry fans with its responsive touch screen and overall specs, but for $50 more, T-Mobile customers could get the much better Bold 9900 instead.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 Review

Armed with both an improved multi-touch display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Torch 9810 builds on the design of the original Torch 9800 from 2010 with some much-needed upgrades in the hardware department. This includes “4G” HSPA+ connectivity,...

Bright, responsive display ; Full QWERTY keyboard ; Fast browser ; Inexpensive

Small touchscreen ; Far outdated OS ; Terrible app selection ; Plastic construction, fragile moving parts ; Short battery life

The real downside to the Torch 9810 is the already-outdated BlackBerry OS 7, and the near-complete lack of quality apps available through App World.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 review: Buttoned-up

A fresh dose of oxygen or a new torchbearer? It doesn't matter which one you think RIM needed to keep the flame alive. They got both in the new BlackBerry Torch 9810. Double the processing power, the new sped-up and brushed-up...

Enhanced email and data security ; 3.2" 16M-color TFT touchscreen of VGA resolution (480 x 640 pixels) ; QWERTY slider ; Quad-band GSM support and tri-band 3G with HSDPA ; Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity ; GPS receiver and BlackBerry maps preloaded, digital...

BlackBerry Internet Service account is a must to enjoy all phone features ; No Flash support for the web browser ; No NFC ; No video-call camera ; No FM radio ; No haptic feedback ; All-plastic body ; Poor loudspeaker performance

The new BlackBerry generation is encouraging users to want more. It’s not about suddenly waking the typical BlackBerry customer up to the business benefits of HD video. Nor is a bump in screen resolution and processing power enough to convince the...

BlackBerry Torch 9810 review

For those who haven't followed my smartphone history (and I suspect many haven't), last December I gave up my BlackBerry Curve 8530 for an Android phone. It's true, I was long a BlackBerry (and BlackBerry Messenger) addict,...

Good camera ; Sturdy build ; Snappy performance

Same old design ; OS is seriously dated ; App selection is quite terrible

Neither the new Torch nor Bold provide what it takes to reel back in an Android convert. I’ve seen the other side — the beauty of a large app catalog, an OS that is modern to the core

BlackBerry Torch 9810: Solid, Responsive, and Slightly Underwhelming

Last year RIM introduced the BlackBerry Torch 9800, a touchscreen/QWERTY-keyboard hybrid. Almost exactly a year later, the BlackBerry Torch 9810 ($50 with a two-year contract from AT&T as of August 16, 2011) has arrived.

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 improves on where the original Torch left off, but in specs it remains far behind the competition.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 review

In the fall of 2010, AT&T stores nationwide installed a mysterious shroud housing some sort of exhibit. Even employees didn't even know what was

Excellent battery life ; Responsive touchscreen via Liquid Graphics ; Solid improvement over 9800

User Interface ; Outdated design ; Limited app support

The 9810 offers a massive boost in hardware and very little noticeable improvement in firmware.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 Review

It's been more than a year since we reviewed the BlackBerry Torch 9800, RIM's hybrid touch/QWERTY slider, and while the company says the smartphone has gone on to be one of their more popular devices, we couldn't get past the underwhelming screen...

While RIM has been playing catch-up, the rest of the smartphone landscape has changed dramatically. qHD and similarly high-res screens are now common, dual-core processors are no longer solely the preserve of top-tier Android phones but filtering down...

BlackBerry Torch 9810 (zinc grey, AT&T)

Despite BlackBerry's continued popularity around the globe, RIM has been on the receiving end of some bad press in the past year. iOS and Android handsets are dominating the market, leaving RIM in the dust as it struggles to catch up with the...

The RIM BlackBerry Torch 9810 has a sharp, colorful, and responsive touch screen along with a full slide-out keyboard. BlackBerry OS 7 promises support for augmented-reality apps, voice-activated universal search, a new Liquid Graphics technology, an...

The BlackBerry Torch 9810's design is very similar to its predecessor, with the same feature set as before

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 won't wow newcomers with its tired old design, but its affordable price and much-improved specs should keep BlackBerry enthusiasts satisfied.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 (AT&T)

AT&T seems to know this, by the way. $49.99 is an absolutely killer price for a smartphone with these specs. But I won't let the low price sway my review.

Speedy UI and camera. Excellent battery life. Very good keyboard. Uses less data than other smartphones

Brand-new OS already feels old. Very few apps. Over-reports signal strength

The BlackBerry Torch 9810 for AT&T is a very solid messaging phone, but the app revolution seems to have passed it by.
