Review Samsung Galaxy Beam (GT-I8530) Smartphone

Dried-out Gingerbread? The Samsung Galaxy beam is a middle-class Smartphone with an LED projector. Sadly, the operating system is the old Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. We will find out if this device is a relic of the past or is still relevant today.

Good Workmanship, - Decent Performance, - Fair amount of accessories, - Great viewing angle stability, - Long battery life, - Nice projector feature, Samsung delivers a secondary battery which increases the time the phone can be used significantly, and...

Display is not very bright, - Outdated operating system, - Power adapter makes noise, - Modest cameras, - Rattling speakers, A brighter display. That would make this phone into a well-rounded package without any major flaws. Samsung could also offer...

Samsung Galaxy Beam GT-I8530 Review

A couple of years ago, before Android hit the big leagues, there was a sudden craze of projector phones which had taken the fancy of many, all thanks to clever advertising. These were feature phones from companies like Spice that had a DLP projector...

The video player supports MP4 and DivX HD formats, so MKV files will play back just fine. Unfortunately, video playback is restricted to 720p only as none of our 1080p test files would play, even through a third party player. We had a similar issue...

Samsung Galaxy Beam review: stay for the projector, but nothing more

With a seemingly endless stream of flagship phones hitting the market before the holiday season, it can be easy to forget some of the other devices that

Projector works well ; Excellent battery life ; Solid and sturdy build

Runs on obsolete build of Android ; Low-end specs don't match professional needs

Unless you absolutely need a pico projector, there's no reason to splurge on a device with lower-end specs when your money can be best spent elsewhere.

Samsung GALAXY Beam Review

If you're looking for just about the strangest smartphone to have been released thus far this year, you're looking right at it right here: the Samsung GALAXY Beam . This device is a relatively powerful smartphone on its own, but with it you get a...

The Samsung GALAXY Beam is certainly a specialty device. If you have a need for a projector that's also a smartphone, or a smartphone that's also a projector - this is your only real legitimate choice. This smartphone is powerful enough to be your...

Samsung Galaxy Beam ( unlocked)

Never mind that the Samsung Galaxy Beam shoots 720p HD video or has a bright yellowjacket design. The one reason you're reading this is because of the quirky smartphone's capability to literally project the contents of your phone onto the nearest...

The Samsung Galaxy Beam comes with an integrated pico projector, a dual-core processor, 720p video capture, and a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen.

The Galaxy Beam's projection software needs some work, the 5-megapixel camera sometimes blurs indoor shots, and the build is thicker and heavier than many of today's phones.

Despite weak software, the Samsung Galaxy Beam's bright projector pushes boundaries, and strong smartphone features make it a worthy standalone device.

Samsung Galaxy Beam review: Home cinema

The first attempts at a projector phone didn't quite work out for Samsung. For many that would be enough to call it a day, but not the Koreans. You don't become the world's number 1 phone manufacturer by giving up easily, so Samsung chose to take a...

Quad-band GSM /GPRS/EDGE support ; 3G with 14.4 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 Mbps HSUPA ; 4" 16M-color capacitive LED-backlit PLS TFT touchscreen of WVGA resolution (480 x 800 pixels), Scratch-resistant glass ; Built-in 15-lumen DLP nHD projector ; Android OS...

No Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box ; All plastic construction ; Feeble loudspeaker ; NovaThor U8500 is the least powerful of the dual-core offerings on the market ; Thicker and heavier than mid-range competition

At the end of our review, it's perhaps fitting to return to the highlight of the Samsung Galaxy Beam - the projector. We found its performance pretty good for the casual media sharing, though the low brightness and the uninspiring resolution hardly...

Samsung I8530 Galaxy Beam preview: First look

You don't see many of those around. Perhaps you're looking in the wrong place. As always, we're glad to be of service but, no, the Samsung i7410 didn't ring any bells. It was the good old Phone Finder again.

Samsung Galaxy Beam Review

Announced at MWC 2012, the Samsung Galaxy Beam sports a projector module of Samsung's own make, that shines with 15 lumen and nHD (640x360) resolution, supposedly enough to create a watchable experience in a low ambient light setting, which can be...

Built-in 15 lumen pico projector ; Large capacity battery plus a spare one in the box

Camera pictures oftentimes come with a yellowish overcast

It is fascinating how Samsung's researchers managed to stuff all these LEDs inside the small projecting unit in the Galaxy Beam, and still achieve a watchable picture that can be blown up to 50”, as if you carry your own big-screen TV in your pocket....

Samsung Galaxy Beam Review

The Samsung Galaxy Beam was announced way back in February at MWC 2012, and looks like your average Samsung mid-range phone, except that it has a built-in...

Has a Built-in Projector ; Okay Build quality ; MicroSD card slot ; Good battery life (some regions have extra battery) ; Easy to use one-handed ; Decent performance thanks to the Dual-Core

Bit Pricey if you dont consider the projector ; Runs ol’ outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread

It’s a niche device, so if you really need a mid-range Android smartphone with a built-in projector, well here ya go. If the projector isnt important to you, there are a couple high end Android phones for the same price.

Samsung Galaxy Beam Review

The Samsung Galaxy Beam functions well as a smartphone, and has a decent projector. If you are in the market to invest around Rs. 25,000 on a smartphone, there are better options available in the market. But if you fancy a projector on your smartphone,...

Good performer, Good build, Projector works well, has nice extra features

Native video format support not wide enough, Not so great display in sunlight, Unattractive colour scheme
