Samsung Galaxy S II 4G (Virgin Mobile)

The Samsung Galaxy S II for Virgin Mobile gets you a lot of power and 4G speeds, but it comes at a steep price.

Speedy dual-core processor. Big, vibrant screen. Nice camera. Good call quality.

Pricey. Lower-resolution screen.

Samsung Galaxy S II 4G (Boost Mobile) review: Prepaid Galaxy packs good features, great camera

Editors' note: Portions of this review were taken from our evaluation of the Samsung Epic 4G Touch, since that device and the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G for Boost Mobile are almost identical.

The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G sports a large and vivid 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. Powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, the phone also runs Android 4.0 and is 4G-capable. Camera quality is also excellent.

Call quality could be better. The device is large and has a plasticky build.

Despite its age, the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G offers solid performance, a vibrant screen, and a great multimedia experience, which makes it the top dog on Boost Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy S II 4G (Boost Mobile)

The unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II made its debut more than a year ago. 15 months and all the major carriers later, it's finally arriving on Boost Mobile. 15 months is more like a few years in the smartphone world, so credit should go to Samsung that...

Powerful, dual-core processor. Large, vibrant screen. Solid camera. Good call quality

Pricey. Slower-than-average 4G modem

The Samsung Galaxy S II 4G for Boost Mobile is pricey up front, but it gets you lots of power and inexpensive 4G data.

Samsung Galaxy S II (U.S. Cellular)

The popular Samsung Galaxy S II makes its way to U.S. Cellular.

As with the Samsung Galaxy S II on AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, there's a lot to like about U.S. Cellular's version. This $179 device has a gorgeous AMOLED display, speedy processor and a quality camera. However, its lack of 4G speeds makes us feel like...

Samsung Galaxy S II ICS review: Sugar coated

Samsung Galaxy S II (U.S. Cellular) review:

With the rapid-fire release of one smartphone after another, it's easy for once-great phones to quickly become obsolete. Luckily, the Samsung Galaxy S II is one device with staying power, and its appearance on U.S. Cellular's network is a slam dunk.

The Samsung Galaxy S II has a large, beautiful 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, a great 8-megapixel camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and 16GB built-in storage.

U.S. Cellular's Samsung Galaxy S II has a slower network. It's significantly pricier than other handsets in the carrier's lineup.

With venerable specs, including a terrific camera and large, beautiful screen, the Samsung Galaxy S II is holding true to its claim to fame as the everyman's high-end Android phone.

Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket review: Aiming for the stars

We have the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket all set on the launch pad. Announced together with the HTC Vivid, the smartphone is among the first LTE enabled devices, compatible with AT&T's all new LTE network. The smartphone is certainly a welcome...

Quad-band GSM and dual-band 3G support ; 21 Mbps HSDPA and 5.76 HSUPA support ; LTE network connectivity ; 4.52" 16M-color Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen of WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) resolution ; Android OS v2.3.5 with TouchWiz 4 launcher ; 1.5...

No dedicated camera key ; No NFC support out of the box (a future update should address this issue) ; WVGA screen resolution is not on par with the rest of the competition in this class

With the addition of an LTE enabled Galaxy S II to the U.S., Samsung has literally a version for every possible taste out there. The Galaxy S II Skyrocket however, is clearly the best equipped for the future with its spanking new radio on board.

Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket review:

At long last, AT&T is finally rolling out its much-awaited LTE network that promises much faster speeds than its existing "4G" HSPA+ network. (What will AT&T dub its LTE network to differentiate it from HSPA+? 4G Plus?) The carrier promised that LTE...

The Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket has a beautiful 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display along with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, an NFC chip, and support for AT&T's LTE network. It ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and has an 8-megapixel camera with...

AT&T's LTE network is only available in a few cities at the time of the Skyrocket's launch, it has a somewhat cheap, plastic feel, and you can't remove bloatware.

If you live in an area that gets AT&T's LTE network, we highly recommend the powerful and beautiful Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket.

AT&T has a lot of solid Android phones to choose from — is the Samsung Galaxy S II the best of the bunch? And can it compete with the iPhone?

The Galaxy S II is a worthy upgrade to the original Galaxy S — it's light, thin, and despite feeling a little chintzy is a very good-looking phone. It works well, though calling AT&T's HSPA+ network “4G” remains a cruel, cruel joke — we're holding out...
