Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Review: Have Fun Without the Formalities

This isn't a smartphone -- it's a different option for those who want to watch movies, play games, access the Web, or read their emails on an Android-based device that doesn't require a monthly contract. We've put it through its paces and bring you the...

Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 Review

The first impression on taking the Galaxy Player out of it's box is, it's big. You might think you're used to large devices if you've used one of the recent large screen smartphones. But there's a huge difference--no pun intended--between those gadgets...

The Galaxy Player 5.0 is a decent hybrid of a basic media player and a mini-tablet, and would make a good choice for entry-level users who want to play with Android without having to commit to a smartphone. More demanding high-end multimedia users may...

Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 review

A few weeks ago, I opened the box of a new Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 5.0 media player. Samsung's Android-powered answer to the iPod touch, the MID took its time in getting to the US. However, it is finally here, I have had a chance to use the it for a...

The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 was really a mixed bag for me. I liked the large screen for media, the software customization making it a media player, the format support, the dual cameras, the awesome Netflix support, and the great speakers. Of course,...

Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 Review

Let's get this out of the way up front. The Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 is, despite its appearance and pedigree, NOT a smartphone. It does not have GSM, EDGE, 3G, HSPA+, or a cellular radio of any sort. Got that? Good.

All the best parts of an Android smartphone, without the phone ; Huge screen great for ebooks and movies ; Good battery life for an Android device ; GPS enabled, unlike its direct competitor the iPod Touch ; Memory capacity expandable via MicroSD

Might be too big for smaller hands ; TFT LCD screen quality isn’t as nice as AMOLED ; Front / rear facing camera quality isn’t as good as it could be

For the price, the Galaxy S 5.0 packs a lot of punch. It’d be a great second (or third) device for Android users, or a good entry point for iOS or BlackBerry users who want to dabble in new territory.
