Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 review: A fully functional foldable

Foldables are clearly part of the future of phones, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the best you can get right now.

Foldable screen opens new possibilities ; Excellent hardware quality ; Reassuring hinge and screen durability ; Very good triple camera ; Top-end specs and core flagship features

Heavy and awkward to use one-handed ; Many apps aren't optimized for foldables ; Much more expensive than most phones

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 review

It's that time of the year again, Samsung has put out yet another Galaxy Fold device. It's once again the epitome of elaborate design - but this time...

Improved durability, build quality, usability, and design. The Flex mode opens the door to various new use cases.

No ingress protection rating.

Finally, there's really not much that can be done about prohibitive pricing at this point in time. That final hindrance of foldable display adoption will, hopefully, get addressed gradually in time. However, if the price is really the only objective...

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 review: Waiting on the world to change

With the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung might just have the first great foldable. Its design has been fortified significantly. Both of its screens are bigger and better than before. It uses the fastest smartphone processor you'll find in an Android phone...

It’s a tablet AND a phone! ; Both displays are bigger and better ; Improved design and build quality ; Solid performance

Extravagantly expensive ; Multitasking isn’t intuitive ; Many apps aren’t optimized for tablets/foldables

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 review: an extravagant success

Samsung fixed everything from the first fold except the price.

Big, high refresh rate glass screen ; Big, actually usable cover display ; Improved, but not yet great, tablet interface

Awkward form factor when closed ; Expensive ; Cameras are a step down from the Note 20 Ultra or Galaxy S20

Samsung’s latest foldable phone / tablet has everything going for it: a big glass screen that folds in half, a big outer screen you can actually use, and maybe decent durability. Too bad it costs $2,000.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Review

Fully usable both open and closed ; More durable than previous models ; Excellent performance

Expensive ; Android multi-window mode feels tacked on ; Awkwardly placed speakers

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 fixes many of the flaws of the original to deliver a foldable big-screen experience that really works, for the first folding phone we recommend.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 review: What the Galaxy Z Fold 3 needs to improve

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 sets the bar high for its successor

Innovative foldable form factor ; Unmatched multitasking capabilities ; Massive 7.6-inch 120Hz display ; Solid photo/video quality ; Excellent software support

Shockingly expensive ; No dust/water resistance ; Bulky vs. traditional phone

After almost a month using the Galaxy Z Fold 2, I’m convinced that foldables aren’t going to be a fad, which made me consider what I want from the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

In 2020, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 felt like the future

In a year nobody could've predicted, where each day seemed hell-bent on eclipsing the former with fresh horror, surprise, or both, it's been tough to stand out as a category-defining ga…

Foldable display actually feels usable now ; Multitasking on a tablet-like screen is great ; Build quality is more reassuring ; This feels like what the future could be

Very expensive ; Cameras not up to Samsung's non-folding flagships ; Foldable display still requires some TLC ; Third-party apps still have to catch up

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G review: the cool Communicator

Does the Z Fold 2 finally keep the foldable phones' promise for an everyday display AND a larger one when you need it, all in one pocketable device? A PhoneArena review...

Head-turning, bragging-rights form factor used for added multitasking value ; Keeps the small-to-big foldable phones' promise thanks to the large Cover Display; Smooth scrolling and interface on the first foldable 120Hz display; Very usable with one...

More expensive than the OG Fold with twice less base storage; Still a thick and heavy phone to carry around, especially with a case on; Squished and tiny keyboard on the narrow cover screen; Taking selfies with the main camera could be less convoluted...
