Samsung M8910 Pixon12 review: By the dozen

The Pixon12 is about to be three times lucky. But any way you look at it, it's nothing short of a dozen. Not that we wanted to make that much fuss, but a bunch of 12 megapixel pictures coming from a phone are always worth it...

3.1" 16M-color resistive AMOLED touchscreen of 800 x 480 pixel resolution ; 12 megapixel auto focus camera with LED and xenon flash, 28mm (30mm effective) wide-angle variable aperture lens ; Object tracking auto focus, geotagging, image stabilization,...

Video recording output isn't on par with the still camera performance ; No smartphone capabilities ; No stereo speakers ; No 3.5 mm audio jack on board (but a 3.5mm adapter is supplied) ; Smart dialing only works for numbers, not contact names

The original M8800 Pixon was dragged down by the lack of some key features and it seems Samsung chose to treat their top cameraphone with more respect this time. The Pixon12 boasts a complete pack of features, including Wi-Fi and SatNav software to go...

We are sure the both flashes will be temptation for many of you especially when the xenon-featured phones were almost forgotten in the last year. The huge count of megapixels plus the wide-angle lens and tons of camera features are something camera...

Samsung Pixon12 M8910 Review

Samsung M8910 Pixon 12

Closely resembling last year's M8800 Pixon, the most obvious improvement is in the camera area. The 12 megapixel camera aims to be every bit as good as a dedicated digital camera. Samsung have concentrated on giving the Pixon 12 a high-quality lens to...

This is especially true when taking photos in broad daylight, as the flash does not kick in and you wouldn't know if a photo was taken or not.

Samsung Pixon 12 mobile phone

Described by Samsung as the "world's first 12.1 megapixel camera phone," the Pixon 12 mobile phone was actually beaten in Australia by the launch of t...

Good build quality, 12-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, mechanical lens cover, AMOLED display, Wi-Fi, GPS, HSDPA

No 3.5mm headphone jack, not a smartphone, resistive touch screen, widgets could use some work

Samsung's Pixon 12 is a great camera phone but lacks in a few other areas. If you're purely after a camera phone then this will do the job, but if you're looking for more of an all-round smartphone, the Pixon 12 fails to deliver.

Samsung M8910 Pixon 12

The Samsung Pixon 12

Great OLED screen, Top notch camera, Improved touchscreen, Better texting accuracy, Xenon flash and power LED

Extravagant price, Poor battery life, Clunky internet, No 3.5mm jack, Resistive touchscreen

There's also a bizarre carry case with a hole cut out for the lens - seeing as you can't see the screen and can barely hit the camera key, we're pretty sure this is just for show
