Samsung S8530 Wave II - Bada All The Way

Enter the Samsung Wave II, Exit stage right, the Samsung Wave. Spotting the differences between the two devices is not an easy task. Samsung has merely tweaked the Wave ever so slightly and re-launched it, which could be a good thing to some or not, to...

Sure for the price of Rs. 15,400 (best price, MOP) you could get an Android device or a Symbian smartphone, but for you could do no wrong whatsoever with the Wave II. It’s an excellent multimedia handset that delivers on all those fronts. From music to...

Samsung S8530 Wave II review: Riding the wave

They shall come in wave upon wave. Or so it seemed in the beginning. Samsung certainly wanted a strong start for their own Bada OS and they had it. It is usual for sequels to be questioned and belittled. That's one thing the Wave II doesn't have to...

3.7" 16M-color Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen, WVGA (480 x 800 pixels), multi-touch input, scratch-resistant glass surface ; Slim and solid metal body ; Bada OS 1.2 with Samsung Apps ; ARM Cortex A8 based 1GHz CPU ; Quad-band GSM support with...

Limited number of available applications ; Super Clear LCD can’t match SuperAMOLED ; Card slot under the battery ; No lens protection ; SatNav software only a 30-day trial ; No ambient light sensor to adjust screen brightness automatically ; Poor...

If you have the feeling the Wave II came out of nowhere you’re not alone. This is not your usual upgrade – it’s an emergency response to what might one day be known as the 2010 SuperAMOLED crisis. Just kidding really, but we guess it always helps to...

Samsung S8530 Wave II

Samsung S8530 Wave II, the successor to the original Wave running Bada 1.2. Wave II sports virtually all of the same specs as the original, but features a larger 3.7-inch display with Super Clear LCD technology.

Affordable; great auto correct when typing; Social Hub simplifies communications

Bada OS has some way to go; market-place lacks apps

In this age of instant gratification, frustration with the lack of options remains the biggest hesitation for anyone thinking of jumping on board the Bada OS.

Samsung Wave II S8530

Now featuring a 3.7" 480 x 800 pixel enhanced LCD screen, rather than the 3.3" AMOLED panel found in the original, the Wave II now comes with a display as large as most of the top-end competition. This new LCD screen (sometimes called "Super LCD" or...

Samsung Wave II GT-S8530

The definitive Samsung Wave II GT-S8530 review

Long battery life ; Great build ; Smashing screen ; Good text entry ; Nice web browser

Understocked app store ; Not enough widgets ; Poor navigation software ; No smart dialling ; Poor linking of Twitter and Facebook contacts

Bearing in mind the low light levels when we took this photo, it is a pretty good effort. Next Page: Samsung Wave II GT-S8530: Media

Samsung Wave II GT-S8530

New Wave was cool in the 80s. Is Samsung's new Wave II stuck in the past?

Quality build ; Decent camera ; Excellent video skills

Bada is behind the times ; Poor app selection

Although Bada doesn't have the smartphone credibility of some of the better-known platforms, the Samsung Wave II is equipped with all the features demanded of a mid-to-high-end smartphone. The processor now lags the dual-core heavyweights but is still...

Samsung Wave 2 GT-S8530 hands-on test

The Samsung Wave 2 has washed ashore, offering much of the functionality of a proper smart phone at a reduced price. But is it enough of an improvement on the original Wave?

Large, bright screen ; Clever built-in apps ; Can record 720p video

Not a huge change from the first Wave ; Bada doesn't offer as many apps as other platforms

The Samsung Wave 2 is more of a tune-up to the original Wave than a vast improvement. If you're looking for cutting-edge tech and constant updates, you should probably get a smart phone. But, if you want much of the power and élan of a smart phone at a...
