Samsung SGH-F400 Preview

Samsung F400 offers a massive, typical for a slider design. It wouldn't catch the eye easily, but let's not forget that it is a music oriented device and not fashion inspired. If you are still not sure if that is so, just push the slider down and let...

Can Samsung's pop-up music mobile get your party started?

Pop-up Bang & Olufsen loudspeaker ; 3-megapixel camera ; HSDPA high-speed data ; Decent music player quality ; 3.5mm headphone socket ; Good earphones supplied ; Music scroll wheel ; FM radio ; MicroSD card expansion

Music controls could have been better thought out ; Internal memory small for music phone

Can a speaker bring you music to your ears?

Samsung SGH-F400

Samsung's SGH-F400 is an interestingly designed slider that's had the Bang & Olufsen treatment.

. There the second slide was used to add music playback controls. Here it unveils a large speaker array sitting atop the screen. This is what delivers the music when you are not using headphones.

Samsung F400 review

An above-average handset but without any single stand-out feature. It's more usable than the Motorola Rokr E8 and doesn't require a proprietary headphone cable like the Sony Ericsson W760i, but both still beat it as music phones

Great keypad ; 3.5mm headphone socket ; MicroSD support ; Decent integrated speakers ; Fast data connection

Screen quality ; Music player function feels unfinished ; No particularly outstanding feature

Care about music in particular but nothing else that much? Choose the E8. Like music and usability equally? Choose the F400. You should also consider the Sony Ericsson W760i, an excellent phone despite its lack of a 3.5mm headphone socket

Samsung's music phone track record has been more miss than hit but its new muso, the F400, looks geared for glory

At last, a user-friendly Samsung music phone with the licks to deliver a big audio performance

Good quality sound makes this a fine proposition

Clever dual slider ; open, airy sound ; decent specs and usability

SD card required ; sound could be more detailed
