Sanyo Katana Eclipse

Sanyo livens up an average-quality flip phone with flashing, colored, customizable lights.

Fun flashing lights on phone's front. Extremely loud speakerphone. Parental controls.

Harsh voice quality. Lousy music app.

Sanyo Katana Eclipse

Customizable lighting effects, good voice and data performance, and a booming speaker make this clamshell a nice addition to the Katana family.

Very good call quality with loud speaker, Customizable lighting effects, External music controls, Speedy data connection

Can't multitask while listening to music, Bland interior design and menu, Dated-looking Web browser

Web browsing was a mixed bag. Thanks to the Eclipse's speedy 3G connection, CNN.com loaded in just 7 seconds; NYTimes.com loaded in 8 seconds. Visiting the photo-heavy Cracked.com proved more troublesome as some of the words on the main page spilled...

Sanyo Katana LX

It has GPS and a sleek look, but this clamshell is not for multimedia fans.

Slim design, Inexpensive, Easy access to Java applications

Poor camera quality, Limited data speeds, No music player, Poor camera quality

The Katana LX' UI is basic, but it offers quick and easy access to most of the phone's features. Inside the main menu are icons for Contacts, History, Messaging, Missed Alerts, My Content, Pictures, Settings, Tools, and Web. Our favorite feature is the...

Sanyo Katana LX

The Sanyo Katana LX for Sprint is shiny and slick, but its performance doesn't live up to its good looks.

Good reception. Impressive voice dialing. Bluetooth.

Harsh voice quality. Front screen is difficult to see. Fewer features than are offered by competitors.

Sanyo Katana LX review: Sanyo Katana LX

Sanyo and Sprint launched two Katana flip phones a year ago, dubbed the Katana DLX and the Katana II . Both handsets followed the first Sanyo Katana released about two years ago, which was nothing more than a scaled-down Razr competitor. The Katana DLX...

The Sanyo Katana LX has an attractive translucent OLED display and a mirror-finish exterior. Features include Bluetooth, voice dialing, and GPS functionality. It has excellent performance as well.

The Sanyo Katana LX has a lackluster screen and disappointing photo quality.

The Sanyo Katana LX is a decent entry-level camera phone for its price range.

Sprint PCS Vision Phone Katana By Sanyo

The Katana trades metal for plastic, but the screen is even sharper than the iconic RAZR's.

Most RAZR-like design for Sprint. High-res screen. Good gaming performance.

Harsh voice quality at high volumes.

The Sanyo Katana Eclipse is the fifth in the Katana franchise and holds its own quite well. This CDMA clamshell has a modern, glossy look and feel and comes with a mid-range feature set sure to please the casual user and pernicious alike. Measuring...
