Siemens SK65 review

Siemens turned some heads (pun sort of intended) last year with their announcement of their SK65, a pretty radical form factor departure from the regular QWERTY keyboard-equipped mobile communicators out there. And what's more, they produced a...

Siemens SK65 (Tri-Band)

Where the SK65's rating was of concern, our 4 stars award was well justified by its all round features. The SK65 worked well as a mobile phone with hardly a glitch throughout our test period. Useful applications such as the Organizer, Survival...

Review: Siemens SK65

They say X marks the spot. Well, that certainly seems to be the case with the Siemens SK65. That amazing X swivel form factor allows Siemens to put a really nice QWERTY keyboard into the SK, and the BlackBerry support is sure to please many.

Siemens SK65

SK65 claims to be the first handset to offer complete email management with BlackBerry Built-In technology.

In order to come to the end I would like to add that there aren't any problems between the actually phone manager and the phone itselves. “Synching” and anything else works perfectly. Both with Outlook, and with Lotus Notes, owing to XTND Connect. The...

Research in Motion's (RIM) Blackberry device might be a fantastic innovation that allows you to keep in touch with email on the move but its not the most sexy looking unit on the block. Siemens however believes it might just be able to help RIM out....

The Blackberry client, style, keyboard

Size, screen resolution, no camera or mp3 player, keyboard spilt down the middle

More stylish than a standard Blackberry, however something is missing

Siemens SK65 review

The Qwerty keyboard layout was designed to slow down typists on mechanical typewriters. Despite many attempts to usurp it, after 50 years of computing all we've managed to do is to augment Qwerty with the mouse - and now we're stuck with it.

Well done Siemens for an unashamedly businesslike phone with a powerful set of features, including the BlackBerry push email client. And well done for coming up with an innovative design yet maintaining that reassuringly solid, over-engineered feel of...

Siemens SK65 review

Siemens' SK65 is a business-focused smart phone with built-in BlackBerry functionality and an innovative twist-out keyboard. Frivolities like a camera and an MP3 player are conspicuously absent

Cleverly disguised keyboard ; Built-in BlackBerry email support

Short on user memory ; Slightly confusing navigation controls ; No camera

With no way to expand the on-board memory, no music player and limited access to third-party software (via Java), the SK65 pales besides devices such as the Treo 650, Windows Mobile-powered smart phones, Nokia's 9500 and 9300 and Sony Ericsson's P910....

Siemens' SK65 smartphone has Research In Motion's Blackberry solution built in, plus an innovative 'cross-to-type' keyboard.

Siemens would not give pricing for any of the three SK65 variants but expects the phone to become available in November in Europe, Middle East and Latin America with other regions to follow shortly afterwards (a local release date could not be given at...

Although the keyboard isn't the miracle cure for handheld typing that we'd hoped, this is a stylish alternative to the BlackBerry range.

Product Specifications

The Siemens SK65 marks a turnaround in mobile communication habits. With the availability of a full size keyboard and instant email reception thanks to BlackBerry technology, your business now takes place wherever you are and whenever you want it to. As long as you have this superior communication device with you, you immediately receive all emails that are sent to you. Instead of having to logon manually and "pulling" newly arrived emails from a server, BlackBerry Built-In email functionality sends all incoming mails directly to your SK65. To save you even more time, your replies as well as deleted emails are instantly synchronized with your private or business email accounts. Important appointments and other business-related information can also be exchanged directly using BlackBerry Built-In technology. Various variants of the phone are available to perfectly suit your mobile office needs. You can choose from a basic version, where you have to download emails manually, a version that incorporates BlackBerry Built-In for seamless push-through of emails, and a corporate version that lets you connect fully secured right to the server architecture of your enterprise and access corporate data and applications beyond email (e.g., intranet sites or the company adressbook). To make your mobile business even more convenient and time-saving, the SK65 features a full size keyboard. Now you can type emails and text-messages just as fast on your mobile phone as on your PC. The x2type (cross-to-type) full size keyboard is revealed by turning the two halves of the phone. Just one move of your hand transforms your cellular phone into a PC-like mobile office. Besides these groundbreaking features, the Siemens SK65 is a business phone that leaves no expectations unfulfilled. Its large TFT 65, 536 color display will open your eyes to brilliant clarity. Bluetooth wireless technology allows for fast data transfer without the need for cables or wires. A built-in loudspeaker enables hands-free talking. And tri-band functionality lets you take your business with you to all five continents. Take your office into your own hands with this supreme business solution made by Siemens.
