Siemens SX1

Though we tend to shy away from reviewing phones that aren't sold directly through a carrier, we couldn't pass up the the Siemens SX1 GSM mobile phone. (Note: The phone is compatible with AT&T, Cingular, and T-Mobile networks.) This intriguing, candy...

Good camera. Symbian OS. MP3 support. External MMC slot. FM radio

Clumsy key layout. No specific carrier

The Siemens SX1 offers good features for a smart phone, but you'll first have to get past the number keys' annoying layout.

Review: Siemens SX1

Nearly a year after we first got to play with it at CeBIT 2003, Sean has written up a review of the Siemens SX1. The unconventional keypad surely turns heads, including ours, but does it and the rest of the SX1's features live up to the hype?

Siemens SX1 Mobile Phone, Smartphone Reviews by Mobile Tech Review

As a PDA, the handset is equipped with basic PIM functions such as contacts, to-do list, calendar, notes application, and built in voice recorder. Internet browsing through GPRS supports WAP 2.0/xHTML. The email client supports POP3, IMAP and SMTP.

umers will definitely look twice at the SX1 due to its novel design. The seven function keys (menu, two soft keys, two dedicated call buttons, shift and cancel) are located on the front face of the phone together with the 5-way d-pad. The twelve number...

Siemens SX1 review

Riding high on the success of the SL45i and with green eyes cast at the Sony Ericsson P900 and the Nokia 6600, German phone manufacturer Siemens wades into the next round of the ‘super-phone' fray with their new SX1. Never one to boast, Siemens...

Functions well thought out, applications second to none

Unusal keyboard

Give me 5 minutes with the chief designer in a darkened room and all this silliness would go away

Siemens SX1

I like my SX1 a lot and i mean a lot -- it has almost all I want in a phone and more... but I am little bit upset with the customer care services -- they are rare: I have to drive for hours to go get an accesory or to fix it ....

Siemens SX1

Siemens mixes business with pleasure with the SX1 -- a smart phone which isn't just a pretty face. Read our Australian review.

Built on Symbian platform ; Bluetooth ; PDA functionality ; 64MB MMC card

Awkward button layout

There were no problems with the battery, although the features of the phone mean that if you use it intensively it will only last about a day, but it has a standby time of 200 hours and up to 4 hours of talk time.

Siemens SX1

Being Siemens first and only Smart Phone at the moment, the next few to be released from this company should be bigger and better than the SX1, hopefully they go back to the normal keypad layout for conveniences sake. =)

Product Specifications

A unique keypad arrangement, outstanding design and the world's most powerful suite of features and applications for its size set the SX1 apart from other handsets - perfect for the most demanding mobile phone consumers. The SX1 has strips of keys built in to each side of the phone, instead of an ordinary keypad, to give it a sleek shape. This design innovation also shifts the large, 64K color high-resolution screen into the center of the device without compromising overall size as the SX1 only weighs 116 grams. Embedded discreetly underneath the screen are central navigation keys which help make the features of the SX1 even easier to navigate. Powerful as it is beautiful, the SX1 hosts the ultimate entertainment and business package. Features packed into a slender 110ccm volume frame include: built-in video player, camcorder, music player and FM radio; rich unlimited gaming supported by Series60 or Java (J2ME); full set of business applications directly comparable to a normal PDA, including local and wireless synch. By combining the latest entertainment and business technology, the SX1 is perfect for those who 'work hard, play harder'.
