Sony Xperia XA1 Review

Sony is breathing new life in its midrange offers for the US with the new Xperia XA1, which comes hot on the heels of its Xperia XZs release here. In Sony's case, it simply starts selling those in its shop or on Amazon, and they only work on T-Mobile...

Sturdy design ; Simple, yet distinct and fast-moving interface ; Excellent media apps with real-time TV guide option

Steep competition at this pricing level ; Smudgy video quality ; Ho-hum call quality in the earpiece

The Xperia XA1 is a fine upgrade over its XA predecessor, with a better camera, faster chipset, USB-C and more memory. Moreover, Sony's aging polycarbonate brick design is actually becoming fresh again in this day and age of glass or metal handsets...

Sony Xperia XA1 review

The Sony Xperia XA1 is a mid-range phone with premium styling. It's superslim and very narrow, with almost no bezels left or right of the screen. Equipped with 32GB of storage and a fast 8-core processor, it's not lacking in any department. But perhaps...

The Xperia XA1 has a lot going for it. For a phone costing just £15 a month on contract, it looks a lot more premium than it has any right to do. Performance from the Helio P20 processor is impressive, and we're pleased with the 32GB of onboard...

Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra hands-on: two powerful mid-range devices

Sony has long been betting heavily on the mid-range range. So much so that the company was one of the first to invest in what it called the "super-mid", referring to mid-range devices that have more advanced features. Sony always bet on the design,...

In reality, Sony is actually presenting us with two powerful mid-range smartphones. The company is ready to repeat its success formula, and adds a thinner bezel. Although they may be similar, the new XA1s are clearly aimed at very specific audiences.

Sony Xperia XA1 review

A low price and ultra-high megapixel count

Very impressive camera for the price ; Smart, ultra-pocketable design ; Bright screen

Relatively low screen resolution ; No fingerprint scanner ; Typical Sony overbaked camera processing

If you want a slim, diminutive phone that won’t make your wallet weep, but has a good camera, the Sony Xperia XA1 is one of your best options. You can get sharper screens at the price, but the photo hardware is hard to beat.

Sony Xperia XA1 review

A cracking camera squeezed into a merely OK mid-range phone

Slim, with a narrow waist and smart looks ; Unusually powerful camera

720p screen ; No fingerprint scanner ; Some occasional performance issues

Smart-looking and affordable mid-range phone with more megapixels than the rest

Sony Xperia XA1 Review: In Depth

Sony's affordable Xperia XA1 smartphone packs some serious style into a pleasingly compact frame.

Gorgeous, compact design ; Impressive camera ; Long battery life

Not the fastest ; No fingerprint sensor

Sony’s Xperia XA1 is a significant improvement over last year’s Xperia XA and a strong rival to the likes of the Moto G5 and Lenovo P2. That gorgeous design has been further refined for an attractive and easy-to-handle device, while the upgraded...

Sony Xperia XA1 review

  (Rating Hidden)

The Sony Xperia XA1 is one of the Japanese company's new affordable mobile phones for 2017. It has the sharp design frequently found on Sony smartphones, but does its 23Mp rear camera take shots that you'd be happy to share? We test all mobile phones...
