Sony Xperia XZ Premium Smartphone Review

Provider of new technologies. Sony's high-end smartphone, the Xperia XZ Premium, offers many innovative technologies in terms of sound and display (HDR), but its case seems a little out-of-date. Find out whether you really should not judge a book by...

nice-looking case made of glass and metal ; brilliant 4K HDR display ; good front camera ; nifty slow-motion videos ; compatible with high-resolution audio ; water and dust resistant ; up-to-date operating system ; 3.5 mm audio combo ; fast Wi-Fi ;...

pressure-sensitive front ; wide bezels ; main camera lacks sharpness ; super-slow-motion function has strong time limit ; a lot of bloatware ; Wi-Fi reception is only good close to the router ; GPS module a little slow ; mediocre and noisy call quality...

Oh Sony, how great it is that for the second time you have made a high-end smartphone with innovative technological features available. The Xperia XZ Premium impresses with high-resolution sound, noise cancelling with the appropriate headphones and a...

Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium is unworthy of its name

No matter how shiny you polish it up, this phone doesn't live up to its price and epithet

Bright, pixel-dense display ; Snappy performance ; Good battery life

Underwhelming camera ; Unergonomic design ; Display bezels are huge by 2017 standards

With its fancy mirror finish, eyebrow-raising price, and proud Sony pedigree, the Xperia XZ Premium flatters to deceive. On paper, it’s a behemoth, but in practice, it’s too much like the rest of the mainstream Android flagship pack. That’s been Sony’s...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium (2017) review

Sony's XZ Premium flagship has just about everything you could ask for from a top-end phone. A 4K display, insanely powerful processor and a unique super-slow motion camera all make this handset great.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium's awesome screen, supercharged processor and unique slow-motion video mode rightly earn this phone its premium name.

This is the same design premium Sony phones have used for years and it's starting to feel old and boring. The limited camera interface makes the phone feel crude. The fingerprint reader is turned off in the US.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a powerhouse of a phone, but it's looking tired against today's rivals, making it tough to justify the cost.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a powerful unlocked phone that combines a vivid 4K HDR display with the latest Snapdragon processor and strong audio capabilities, but falls short in other areas.

Crisp 4K HDR display. Powerful Snapdragon 835 processor. High-resolution audio. Waterproof. Current software.

Poor battery life. Fingerprint sensor not activated in US. Limited 4K HDR content. Bulky design.

At $800, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is one of the costliest flagship phones you can buy. In terms of hardware, it matches most of its rivals with smooth, fast performance, excellent camera quality, and high-resolution audio. It also has the sharpest...

Sony's Xperia XZ Premium has a 4K HDR screen, super slow-mo

Sony's Xperia XZ Premium shines, quite literally. The first thing you notice about the new phone is the mirror finish that gives the device a sparkly appearance. It seems destined to require lots of polishing.

Sony also announced the Xperia XZs, a follow-up to the barely six-month-old XZ. With the same 5.2-inch display as its predecessor, the new handset includes the XZ Premium’s Motion Eye camera system, 4GB RAM, and 64GB of storage. It will be available on...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium review: Fast and feature-rich, but the design needs a refresh

The Xperia XZ Premium is Sony's flagship handset for 2017, and it has a suitably premium price of £649 (inc. VAT). This is matched by the HTC U11 and LG G6 launch prices, and is a shade less expensive than the £689 Samsung Galaxy S8 .

4K-capable screen ; Super slow-motion 960fps video ; Good battery life ; Good sound quality ; MicroSD card support

Uninspiring design ; Some disappointing build materials ; Slow-motion video mode lacks flexibility

Sony Xperia XZ Premium Review

With the XZ Premium, Sony promises unparalleled experience thanks to its revolutionary camera tech, excellent 5.5-inch 4K display and Qualcomm's latest silicon – the Snapdragon 835. Let's see if it delivers.

Excellent 4K display ; Snapdragon 835 SoC ; 960 fps super slow-motion video

Fingerprint magnet ; Super slow-motion can be hard to time right ; Cumbersome camera UI

Xperia XZ Premium Review: Insane 4K Display Can't Save This Sony

The Xperia XZ Premium proves Sony is trying to push the boundaries of what a good Android phone can be. But future-proofing the display, camera and performance for innovation down the line doesn't do much good in the present. A 4K HDR smartphone with a...

Gorgeous 4K HDR display ; Bright screen shows off lots of colors accurately ; Solid front- and rear-facing cameras ; Powerful performance

4K content is limited at this stage ; No fingerprint sensor ; So-so battery life, compared to other flagships ; Super-slow-motion feature feels like a novelty

The Xperia XZ Premium's 4K display and powerful performance are truly extraordinary, but so-so battery life and a dated design make it an also-ran.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium review

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is a premium-spec version of the XZ, with a 4K HDR screen, a next-gen processor, enhanced camera, more memory and a bigger battery. It's a beauty for sure, and not over-priced, but may be too big for some users.

The XZ Premium is a significant upgrade to the XZ, which was already a worthy flagship phone. While the larger footprint and relatively heavy build won't suit everyone, if you like your phones big, this is a superb option. The design shouts quality,...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium hands-on: the 4K smartphone with Snapdragon 835

Many people are loyal fans of the Sony brand, not just for their smartphones, but for their televisions, displays and image processors and sensors for cameras of all types. The new Sony Xperia XZ Premium is the essence of each of Sony's areas of focus....

There is no denying that the Xperia XZ Premium is what Sony itself calls "the best of Sony." It is very interesting to note that Sony is one of the companies that has not given much attention to VR technology for mobile devices (let's not forget the...
