Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Smartphone Review

Mirror, mirror in my hand. Sony's new Xperia Z5 Premium flagship not only shines with high-performance technology and an exceptionally high-resolution ultra HD panel, its back can double as a mirror. Our report elucidates how well the Premium...

high-quality casing material, reliable fingerprint scanner, AC Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 & NFC, App2SD, USB-OTG & MHL, Miracast & Google Cast support, water & dust resistant, very good phone features, stereo speakers, dedicated camera button & fast auto...

which shows weaknesses in color reproduction, screen dims when temperatures increase, blurry edges from primary camera, fingerprint susceptible casing material, throttles under permanent load, slow SD card interface, no USB Type C port, below average...

The extravagant mirror design makes Sony's new Xperia Z5 Premium flagship a real eye-catcher at first sight - and that is meant literally. A drawback of this unusual, shining presentation will certainly be the omnipresent fingerprints on the casing...

Sony Xperia Z5 (Unlocked)

The unlocked Sony Xperia Z5 is an attractive Android phone with solid performance, but there are better options available for the price.

Fast performance. Sharp camera. Attractive build. Expandable memory.

Pricey for what you get. Middling battery life.

Software and Conclusions The Z5 automatically updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow upon booting. Sony isn't the first or the fastest manufacturer when it comes to Android updates, but it's reliable, so I expect the Z5 to receive an update to Android N at...

The Xperia Z5 Premium's UHD screen broke my heart

4K, everywhere, and not a thing to watch.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium (black)

Cue wild applause.

Sony's Xperia Z5 Premium has a gorgeous, pin-sharp screen, it's powerful, packs a solid camera and won't die when you spill your drink on it.

Its 4K display results in a sky-high price, but the extra resolution adds nothing to the overall experience. Sony's familiar design is beginning to look rather tired.

Don't be tempted by the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium's attention-grabbing 4K screen. You can spend less money on a better all-round flagship phone.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium review

Sony's Xperia Z5 premium is the flagship phone Sony has owed us for a long time. While the standard Z5 was a fairly uninspiring reissue of the brilliant Z3 , the Z5 Premium packs a bigger screen with a whopping 4K resolution, which is 3,840x2,160...

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Review

Let it be known that 2015 is the year when we saw the first-ever commercially available smartphone with a 4K display. That's a 2160 x 3840-pixel resolution crammed in a 5.5-inch screen. Of course, as you probably know, the smartphone in question...

Bright display, easy to read under sunlight ; Dust- and water-resistant (IP68) ; Outstanding battery life

Camera could be better ; The user interface needs a refresh ; Weak speakers that lack in depth ; Bulky

Thus far, we strayed away from discussing whether or not 4K on a smartphone's display is a good idea, and for a reason. It all boils down to two arguments – on one side, one can say that it's overkill, the improvement in details is barely noticeable,...

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium review: 4K forte

The Xperia Z5 Premium is, according to Sony, the first smartphone with a 4K screen. This means it has an insane pixel density of 807 ppi. Its other remarkable feature is its high price. Is it justified by 4K resolution and the Z5 Premium's other...

Display quality ; Outstanding camera ; Quick-charging functionality ; Water resistant

High price ; Battery capacity

The Sony Xperia Z 5 Premium is a smartphone with some unique selling points, but it seems out of date in some areas. Sony’s OmniBalance design principles are a matter of taste – some love them, others simply find them boring. But the simple truth is...

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium review

Sony's making a lot of noise about the Xperia Z5 Premium, not least because it's the first smartphone in the world to hit the market with an eye-popping 4K display. But does the world first deserve your attention or is it just hype? This is our full...

Pretty good looking ; Decent camera ; Great fingerprint scanner

Complete lack of 4K content made available by Sony ; Glossy fingerprint magnet ; Far too expensive for what you actually get over the other Z5 phones

Anyone hoping for a real wow factor with this phone based on the specs or the marketing hype will be sadly disappointed. While the Z5 Premium isn't a bad phone by any stretch, it simply doesn't live up to that hype or the pretty steep retail price....

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Review: 4K Overkill?

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium sports similar specs as the other phones in the Z5 line, but it has one spec that sets it aside from every other smartphone on the market: a 4K display.

Great design and finish ; Above average battery life ; Outstanding chipset ; Good camera ; 4k display impressive in some instances

4k display limited to multimedia ; It’s a fingerprint magnet ; Some display colors off by default ; Expensive

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium’s biggest draw is the 4K display, which separates it from every other phone on the market. Otherwise, specs are very similar to the Xperia Z5, and they are solid.
