Toshiba Portege G910

Toshiba has a new one for us, the Portege G910, which aims to be a top choice for business users (especially in Europe) who want to go Windows Mobile.

Very high screen resolution ; Terrific keyboard feel ; Satisfying "click" sound when phone is closed ; Opera 8.65 (but not 9.5) included ; External OLED screen can be useful ; OCR software works pretty well ; aGPS/WiFi/HSDPA

Laggy performance ; Buggy ; Not USB 2.0 compatible ; Some third-party programs are not WVGA compatible ; Doesn't include WinMo 6.1 ; Keyboard lag ; Triband ; Fingerprint reader lacks adequate security software ; Poor camera ; Screen brightness is too...

I feel bad being so hard on Toshiba lately, but they just aren't getting it right.

Toshiba Portégé G910 / G920

One of Toshiba's second generation of Portégé phones, the Toshiba Portégé G910 / G920 is a Windows smartphone with a large touchscreen, GPS and a QWERTY keyboard.

Toshiba Portege G910 review

The Toshiba Portege G910 clamshell design is relatively large but still has some functionality in a closed state due to its front control system. For consumers, it's maybe too fiddly in operation and not the quickest performer. On the flip side,...

Conclusion The Toshiba Portege G910 won't appeal to all consumers as it's still relatively a large device. Taking images or making calls was awkward -- via its front control system -- and internal speaker volume was low. Although it's plagued by some...

Toshiba Portg G910

The Portg G910 is a feature-packed clamshell-format handheld with a reasonably usable QWERTY keyboard. However, its functionality when closed is limited, and many users may prefer a more traditional phone-like fascia.

HSDPA, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ; 800-pixel-wide inner screen

Bulky and heavy ; Most features require clamshell-mode operation ; Runs sluggishly at times

Toshiba Portégé G910 review -

The G910 has a unique hardware design, VGA screen and a good keyboard

It felt a bit of a slow runner, and the clam needs to be opened to make full use of what is on offer

Toshiba is definitely targeting the business community with the Portégé G910, and it might appeal to anyone looking for a different styling and a capable device. At 183g in weight, though, you'll need big pockets to carry it around.
